For people traveling from Pune city, the route is via Chandani chowk – Pirangut - Paud After reaching Paud take right and drive for around 40 odd km. Just after you cross “Dudhiware Khind” you reach to the same place Take right for Lohgad base.
From Mumbai, you can take a train to Lonavla. Malavli is the next station from Lonavla in the direction toward Pune. Lohgad is just seven kms from Malawali.
Lohgadwadi is the nearest village from where one can enter the fort through any of its four doors- Narayan darwaja, Ganesh darwaja(Main entrance to Lohagad fort), Maha darwaja and Hanuman darwaja.
Vinchu Kata is popular attraction of the fort which is an assortment of hills that resemble a scorpion’s tail. Another attraction is Laxmi kothi which is a big cave and now used by trekking groups to spend the night on the fort. A temple of Shiva and a number of man-made lakes which were used as water reservoirs. If you are planning a trek to Lohgad, it is highly recommended to also visit the Bhaje caves located close to the fort which house the ancient Buddhist Viharas and Stupas.
The fort of Lohgad is situated 10 kms away from Lonavala. SO you can cover Lonawala also.
