“Accepts pets but NOT dog friendly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

First let me say that I have stayed at this hotel twice before without pets and rated it higher. They charge $20 per pet on top of a pretty high rate to begin with so it is no bargain. I was willing to pay because I anticipated a nicer hotel than lower rate dog friendlies in the area. I don't know if it was just because we had dogs or if the management is slipping but we had a two queen room and only had three towels. The towels weren't even all towels and all of them were thin, ragged, and very worn. One was a ragged bath mat. My 2 grandchildren and I used the pool and the pool towels were in the same condition. Some of the pool towels were also bath mats and all were ragged. Breakfast was minumum requirements with few choices. This hotel is over-priced and under performs. Drive a little farther and find something better especially if you have dogs.

Room Tip: Don't stay if you have a pet.

We stayed here while visiting my husband's family in Abilene. The location is a little out of the way of the rest of the town but other than that everything was great. We had a suite with a very nice hot tub and the room was large, clean and beyond comfortable. Good muffins for breakfast too!

We spent the night here while traveling for Christmas. We were traveling with our 2 small dogs, and this hotel is very pet friendly. The staff at this hotel was very friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast was more than the usual continental breakfast, and included sausage, eggs and biscuits along with the standard fare of fruits, cereals and pastries. The lady working the breakfast room was very helpful and went out of her way to make sure everyone had an enjoyable breakfast. Front desk staff was fast and efficient for both check-in and check-out. Hotel also has an indoor pool, which was very nice. The rooms are a little above average for hotels in this area and price range. They are clean and spacious, with a fridge and microwave, and a large clean bathroom. The beds and bedding appeared to be fairly new, but the mattresses were just a little too hard for our taste. If you like a firm mattress, you would like these beds. Free Wireless Internet, but the speed was a little slow. We have stayed here several times, and will stay here again when traveling through Kansas. Every stay has been very good for us at this hotel except one where the non-smoking room they put us in reeked of smoke tremendously, and we had to ask to be moved to another room - which they did.

Room Tip: Great hotel if traveling with pets.

We travel from Kentucky to Colorado twice a year so it seems that we've stayed at almost every hotel/motel along that stretch of I-70, however, this Christmas we found our new "we'll definitely go back again!". We were driving in snow going east-bound. Made it beyond Salina, but knew we'd never get as far as Topeka. There's a tiny little town in-between those with a perfect Holiday Inn Express! Pool. yes! Hot tub? Yes! Wi-fi? Yes! Great breakfast? Yes! And the ladies working the front desk make you feel like you're visiting family rather than just a motel, they were caring, kind, and friendly. Clean, smells great, and an amazingly comfortable bed! Plus, a very good rate because you're in a small- town location.

Pros: 1) friendly, helpful and competent staff, 2) clean rooms and common areas, 3) abundant parking.
Cons: 1) smoking rooms on same hallway as non-smoking rooms, 2) allows pets.
I knew in advance that this Holiday Inn Express has rooms for smokers, but I did not know they are located on the same hallway as non-smoking rooms. The smell of smoke continually drifts down the hall to non-smoking rooms. I also knew in advance that this hotel accepts pets, but I did not appreciate dogs barking at me as I exited the elevator.
If this Holiday Inn would ban smokers and pets, it would be a much more pleasant place to stay.

This is a typical Holiday Inn Express...feeling cleaner and more comfortable than other choices. The bed, bedding and pillows are excellent. The bathroom was clean. It had a microwave and refrigerator. And the staff were nice. I find Holiday Inn Express pricing to be higher than older sleep-and-go-hotels. But, if you value clean, comfortable room and friendly staff--stay here.

I stayed here for one night while visiting a friend in Abilene. I was a little nervous staying here as it is in a small town, so I worried about the quality of the hotel. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I booked the hotel over priceline, checkin was simple, front desk staff was nice, facilities were clean, breakfast was great, hotel was quiet, and the room was VERY nice. It was tastefully decorated, clean, had a nice flat screen television, a sitting chair, in room coffee, desk....it was amazing. I had a great stay. Would definitely stay here again...
