“Not worth the money... pretty average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We received a room with the door exiting onto the inner court yard where there was rubbish lying around... The room itself was not very pretty, yet clean, but very dark, especially the bathroom hardly had light. The staff was friendly, and the experience overall ok, but think it is way to expensive for what you're getting!

Good service, rooms not lavish but well maintained..helping staff..good indian food in restaurant..stayed for more than a month..other than minor glitches no complaints..you have to be a bit patient at times..but its definitely worth the rate charged

first of all, great location..and I loved the spa.. other than that every thing was average, except for the price..What made my stay less enjoyable was the tv cable, which has only 3 channels and the cold swimming pool which gave me a nasty cold afterwards..

Room Tip: insist on lower floor rooms, as there is no elevator..we had to climb a flight of stairs every day t...

This was the second time we stayed here. Four years ago on my first 5 days stay the price was considerable lower and the services were better.

We had planned to stay four days but after two nights we realized that there are now better options at lower costs in Kampala.

The thing that annoyed us the most was the parking. The big parking is flooded during the day by cars of people visiting the sauna, swimming pool and conference rooms. So when you as a guest of the hotel arrive before 8.00 PM you fail to find parking and you are told by the ignorant security to park somewhere else outside the gate. When you know Kampala you will know that this is not easy, you pay money for it, and it is not safe, especially after dark.

We ate one night at the Indian restaurant outside and the second night in the restaurant on the first floor inside the hotel. No complaints about the first one. Service was average, the food was good. But the second night the food was poor, and the service even poorer. My wife had to wait 45 minutes for her fruit juice and I needed a chainsaw to get through my steak.

Also the breakfast was disappointing. On our first visit we were having lots of choices, now it has become very standard although it is still not bad but I am seeing the changes with four years ago.

The room is fine, but no drinking water on the second night. They told me this was their policy, don't understand why, am I paying less the second night? Bed are comfortable, rooms are spacious, everything working, no complaints there.

Location is perfect, near the center, shopping malls and main roads that take you in all directions quickly (providing there are no terrible traffic jams).

We talked to the management about our concerns and they agreed with us and would do something about it. Don't know whether things have changed now. Would go back if they take care of it, otherwise look for better (and cheaper) options!

Room Tip: If you want a bath instead of a shower make sure you ask for it at the reception. They have rooms at...

Stayed here for 7 nights August 2012, yes the room is showing wear but very clean, Bed very comfortable, good mosquito net, I was working in Kampala a woman on my own and I felt very safe and comfortable here, free wifi, air con, did keep getting lost but I am a bit of a klutz, great location for getting around and really enjoyed relaxing by the pool on my day off. Interesting gift shops. The staff friendly, efficient and welcoming, the food from the Indian / Chinese Restuarant was simply superb. Had an amaziing massage for just $20 at the spa very Gladatorial Blood and Sand type pummelling! So bear with the Fairway they are working on updating all the rooms. So thank you to Lydia and Azhar

I stayed at this excellent hotel in Kampala for a second time whilst on business. As a female on her own I felt very safe and secure here. The hotel rooms have been upgraded since my last visit and are very comfortable. Mine had a balcony overlooking the Garden Cafe. All facilities are good. Excellent room service with a smile from the staff. Try the African tea and a piece of cake! The breakfast had improved from the previous year and is now very good. I didn't eat in the restaurant. The newly renovated reception is lovely. The Garden Cafe across the road is a great place to have after work meetings. It is the staff however who really make the place. Everyone was helpful and some even remembered me from last year! The only criticism if I have one is the restaurant and the Garden Cafe menu is predominantly Indian and I would like to see a wider variety on the menu. Excellent value for money.

I stayed at the Fairway for two nights.

Pros: Free wifi with a decent connection speed. Air conditioner. Refrigerator. Balcony looked over nice gardens. Nice staff members. Central location.

Cons: The overall state of the room was rather dingy. The bed covers and curtains had certainly seen better days. I doubt how secure the locks on the door are (though they had an additional bolt that helped). No bottles of water as promised (though I didn't ask either). Creepy hallways.

In all, the hotel was perfectly serviceable though they probably charged more than the accommodations justify. I would have felt much better paying $60 rather than $90 a night. There are better deals in Kampala, but all in all this is relatively low hassle option.
