Stayed here recently after spending a few nights in Entebbe. This Sheraton was like others I've stayed at, but the customer service was exceptional! They were the most friendly and courteous Sheraton staff that I've encountered. When I got bumped from my flight out and had to come back and check back, they were totally understanding and agreed to give me the same rate I had the previous few nights.

The breakfast was great. A huge selection. The amenities were really broad: gym, shops, restaurant, bars, live music, etc. Security was also impressive.

The rates were also decent - about $165USD/nt.

Would definitely stay here again if afforded the chance.

So it's a Sheraton, and you know what to expect inside in terms of the decor and the services. The staff were nice and very helpful, and the trip went smoothly. The trip was in two parts: for the first part we were in the old-type rooms lower down in the hotel, which are dated and not up to the standard you would expect for this price, while for the second part of the trip we got a room on one of the higher floors, which was much better, although still not really worth the price they charge, in my opinion.

The problem came when I got home to find that my credit card had been cloned while I was in Uganda. The only place that I had used or that had the details of my card was - you guessed it - the Sheraton. I sent an email to Sheraton HQ, who basically told me that I was mistaken and that the cloning hadn't happened at their hotel. So, if you do stay here (and I can imagine it's the right place for some people to be based), then pay cash rather than use your cards.

- one of the best hotels around in kampala, cheapest "high class" hotel
- the famous companys name is only reflected at the nice main entrance and more or less in the breakfast area
- the rooms are not that confortable and some of them are loud and dirty (where are the 5-stars?!) but in comparison to most of the other hotels in uganda, its fine here
- the hotel is located up the hill, so that you have a nice view from there around kampala
- aound the hotel, there are a lot of bars, restaurants and in a distance of a few walking-minutes, there are shops as well
- the bathroom is small, an pretty out-dated - sometimes including the lack water pressure
- the hotels restaurant is very good, with a great buffet and fresh bbq in the evening
- there is also a swimming pool and a fitness-area, but i've never tried it

all in all: it's the best what you can get for that money, but a would appreciate a renovation!

The front desk staff were very helpful. I was allocated a room on the 7th floor. It was a good size however the cleanliness was poor. There was dirt hanging of the lamp shades, on the bathroom floor, marks on the carpet and the mirrors in the room and the bathroom were chipped, cracked and dirty. AC did not work well and the room was noisy as it over looked a car park and road.

The main public areas, bars and terrace are well kept.

I would look for other hotels before returning to this hotel until it is fully refurbished.

Overall pleased I stayed here and I would recommend.
Good points - redecoration very well done, buffet food evenings high standard indeed and changed daily, staff polite, excellent location, good tennis pro and very reasonable rate, good security, able to blag access to the very nice lounge to watch the World Cup occasionally.
Not so good points - well, you have to remember this is Africa and occasional dirty water from the shower, musty rooms is to be expected. Not many bad points to count. Checking in after a long flight was SLOW, but perhaps that was down to the smartly dressed Japanese businessman in front of me who wanted to know in great detail if the hotel internet was barred from 'very notty' sites (sigh, they turn up everywhere ....).
Spotted a few European uncles with their African nieces but not too many, thankfully.
