“Beautiful place & wonderful people!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Just returned back home after organizing a successful meeting at the Silver Springs Bugolobi. Had great communication from my initial contact to make a booking right to the very final day, the hotel is beautiful, the people are just lovely whenever I needed something they were always at hand to assist. They have a friendly nature and attitude, I will truly miss them...i wish to return very soon!

“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Stayed four nights and the room was clean and tidy as was the ensuite. A problem with an electrical fitting in the room was attended to by the Guest Relations manner very quickly. Within 30 minutes of my raising the point. WiFi worked well and I found the food very nice and tasty. Had a swim in the pool. It was clean and not too much chlorine did not affect the eyes. They cleaned the pool several times during the day. The hotel has different blocks of rooms some directly face the swimming pool. Nice views but the bar at night will be loud and possibly uncomfortable until the early morning hours. If you want a quieter night then there are other blocks a little further back which will not be as affected i think. I found all the staff friendly and approachable. The general atmosphere is clean and tidy and the Asian manager sorted out a problem with my travel agent in very quick order. I will stay here again.

“Normal for Africa ?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel for three weeks in November, the staff on reception were helpful and friendly, the hotel is based upon one main site with rooms in a number of buildings in the grounds! The room was large and clean and had a TV and Airconditioning . The bathroom was large with a walk in shower, two single beds with mosquito nets and a complementary bottle of mineral water daily. The soft drinks and beers are reasonably priced and the food is of a reasonable standard. Breakfast is a buffet with a good variety of choice and an omlette/ eggs station. Lunch was mostly buffet but the menu did not have a great degree of variety. Evening meal was either a la carte or buffet, the a la carte offered a good range of choice of curries, pizzas and traditional African dishes, tilapia and other sea food! The buffet seldom varied and became extremely predictable.
The hotel is located quite a distance from Kampala approx 3km+ and required a taxi or boda to get around.
The swimming pool was interesting and the water mostly appeared murky despite managements attempts to chlorinate it! We did not use it during our stay! The hotel was very busy and catered for a lot of social events and business clients and was at times extremely noisy until the small hours of the morning! The coffee shop in the foyer did a good range of drinks but was relatively expensive. I will not comment in detail over the hotel security but it was on a par with other hotels in the area and seemed adequate!
Overall this was a pleasant stay with nice people and very clean rooms, the buffet was predictable but the a la carte was quite good! The noise at times was a little intrusive but otherwise the stay was better than I expected !

“Adequate and clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

I stayed here for five nights in October, 2012. The Silver Springs Hotel is a long-standing hotel, which was once part of the Uganda Hotels Group, which was typified by run-down establishments which had been neglected by the state-owned company for years until it was broken up in the 1990s.

The Silver Springs has been renovated to an adequate standard, but rooms are fairly basic, with ageing furniture which probably escaped the re-vamp which seems to have concentrated more on the public areas. Having said that, the rooms are clean, have air conditioning and my bed was very comfortable.

The dining facilities are OK... an extensive (and a bit expensive) menu, and service is reasonable...

All in all, an OK place to stay, but do be aware of its location, about 5kms from the city centre in Bugolobi... Traffic congestion is an everyday part of Kampala now, so you need to allow much more time than you would expect to get anywhere.
