“Excelleent Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2011

Definetly worth a trip, especially if staying at the Speke! My friend was in Kampala for an overnight stopover after 7 years and made the trek here from Entebbe, so that should tell you everything you need to know. Excelleent food, but more of a quick dinner than a lounging atmosphere, but good food and friendly staff/owners.

“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2010

I tried this place after reading good reviews on here. At least when I went the chef's cooking philosophy seemed to be that if you add enough oil and salt then you don't need to worry too much about the spices. I really like Indian food and ordered enough so I could take leftovers with me for a quick meal at home, but ended up leaving the food there.

Not into Indian food at all, but this place surprised me. If you're into Indian food and in Kampala, this is the place to eat.

“Good Indian Food - very slow service (not atypical though for Kampala)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2009

I ate here 3 times and each time the food was good. I thought it was a little pricey overall, but reliable. Some in our group just loved it - I thought it was good, but rather heavy. The dishes were served very warm and the naan was tasty. Everyone liked the chicken tikka masala and they also have Chinese which some diners preferred.

Like most restaurants in Kampala, the service is painfully slow - from ordering drinks to getting the food to getting the bill. Even when we decided to order our drinks and food right away, it was just the same amount of time from start to finish. Sometimes slow dining is fun. Sometimes when you are really hungry from a long day in the field, it is less fun.

For an entire dinner with naan (not included with any entree) and bottled water and maybe a soda, it was around $14 per person. So, definitely geared for tourists and upscale business clients, not the average Ugandan.
