“Very trendy and occidental hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

As usual this hotel is really a nice place to stay. I have however to admit that, having now also tried the Terrou-Bi, very close, the choice is not that easy between the two hotels. The Radisson lacks a little bit of 'African' touch, especially in the staff amability.
However, the place is nice, the swimming pool amazing (even if too cold...), the gym and the Spa wonderful !
For the 'Avenue' restaurant, it is really expensive, and you need to have a lot of time to get your meal ;-)

The Radisson Blu is a spectacular hotel, set in an incredible location. While the prices at the restaurants and bar are high for Africa, the quality was first rate. The Zebu tenderloin was one of the finest cuts of meat I've eaten. The treated tapwater makes staying here much simpler.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms face the ocean.

I stayed at both the Terrou-Bï and the Radisson; in walking distance of each other. The Radisson Blu is so chic and so well-designed, from the rooms, to the lobby, to the pool area, that I found myself taking more pictures of the hotel than of Dakar. Really fantastic hotel, great fruit drinks by the pool, and chic rooms. A bit of construction still seemed to be going on, but seemed to be finishing up. Probably the only negative is that (unlike the Terrou-Bi), there is no beach at all. One of the best looking hotels I've seen (South African architect) not just in West Africa, but anywhere. Also not very expensive (we had a USD 150/night corporate rate) ... especially when compared to the other crazy expensive hotels in Africa. The only possible other negative is that the desk staff are a bit ... well .. "French" in their arrogance and attitude. Recommended.

Stayed there 5 days for a conference. Great inhouse menu and an amazing infinity pool. The prices were high (10-30 USD equivalent) for the restaurant food, but it was 1st world quality. Also the tap water was treated making it potable.... no need to buy bottled water. Would stay there again if in Dakar.

The Radisson Blu is THE place to be in Dakar. The hotel is very modern and stylish.
It is located very quite at the seaside, only minutes from Dakar center. In the evenings, the pool bar is full with visitors from Dakar, this is the place to meet. The restaurant is offering a good variety of international and national cuisine, the staff of the hotel is overall very qualified and extremely friendly. The rooms are big and spacious, and offer all necessary comfort.
Absolutely recommendable.

Room Tip: Choose business class room, they are a little larger and face seaside.

The hotel has a great waterfront location, with views to enjoy at breakfast or from the pool even if you have not paid for an ocean-view room. The rooms are pretty standard for a business hotel, clean and decently appointed. The free wifi was reliable and reasonablty fast. Most of the staff have some Enlgish, but it will help if you can speak some French. The Sea Plaza shopping centre adjacent to the hotel has a good supermarket, with a nice deli and bakery, and reasonable selection of wine--some pate, bread, cheese and a bottle of decent wine offers a nice alternative to room service for road warriors. The only real downside is that the hotel is under the international airport flightpath, and far from fully soundproof. If you are a light sleeper, you may be happier elsewhere.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms have an oceanview.

This is one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at in Africa, almost as posh as some I’d experienced in South Africa. I’d spent a few days/evenings swimming in the infinity pool and I must say, it is one of the most gorgeous hotel pools I’ve ever seen, and with the weather as hot as it is, swim-able day and night. Pros and cons:

Pros: Infinity pool; great jazzy band playing at the pool evenings; extremely helpful and attentive staff (I got a traveler's flu while there and hotel staff treated me exceedingly well: went to the pharmacy for me, escorted a doctor into my room in the middle of the night, and did everything in their power to make me comfortable); delicious breakfast with great eggs to order (but expensive and not included in my room price); high-end mall next door where one could feel safe buying lots of Western (often French) products at the grocery store or eating at the food court located therein; great location on the Corniche; my second room had a view of the ocean with the palms swaying in the breeze: priceless.

Cons: My first view was of not much; my second ocean view was gorgeous, but I could hear the live band on the pool’s terrace too well, so they moved me a few rooms over and that helped a lot; I had an ant invasion in my room after mistakenly having left out some room service food—they moved me and all was well.
