“One of the best hotels in Kigali”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

Clean and spacious rooms, comfortable bedding, wide variety of food at the breakfast buffet, attentive and smiling staff, live band playing African tunes every Friday. WiFi internet is unreliable sometimes, but the cable connection works well.

Hotel was good, very clean, nice pool area, decent restaurant. Prices in the restaurant were a bit high but there is not much around there so they can charge that. They are building two big hotels around there so hopefully that will help with options for food. Hotel bathroom was good, inside the room was very tight, there was enough room but it felt a bit small. We walked outside of the hotel and felt safe. Would come back here.

Kigali prides itself in this gem of a Hotel, due to the excellent service and great facilities.

Kigali Serena has become my ONLY home on all my visits to Rwanda. It is hard to imagine what level of service the other sprouting hotels will offer to match the warm excellence that Serena has to offer.

Room Tip: Pool-facing rooms are a traveler favorite. Avoid the rooms facing the road opposite the entrance...

Awesome hotel. The customer service right from the airport pickup to the room service is top notch. There is always a friendly face ready to be of assistance and make your stay very comfy. The food is really really good, whatever time of day you eat

This hotel is setting standards in business accommodation. Five star luxury at less than five star prices. Great Gym and pool and a well appointed property. Lacks in terms of restaurant variety but the standard food offered is very good.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

I only stayed one night, but I fell in love immediately upon entering my room. I had just come from spending 2 nights in a "luxury" tent with no A/C, bugs, and sand everywhere so I was so relieved to get what I consider real "luxury". The bathroom was the best part of the room in my opinion, but maybe that was because I arrived feeling so dirty! Awesome shower, separate toilet room, bathtub, beautifully decorated double sinks. They had more bathroom amenities than I've ever seen before. Fresh roses by the sink, fluffy towels, robes, and bed. Had no problem getting wifi in the room. Private balcony looking out onto the mountains. Extremely spacious room with lots of table top space for bags and from which to work. More electrical outlets than we needed, which was a first as we had a lot of electronics (computers/cameras). We somehow got an upgraded room so I'm not sure how the normal rooms compare, but I was in heaven. I was a bit taken back when we initially arrived as we had to go through metal detectors to get into the hotel lobby. Made me feel a bit nervous instead of safe at first. But once inside, I completely forgot I was in a 3rd world. The grounds were lush and beautifully thought out with the pools, foliage, restaurants, etc. A bit confusing to find your way around as the place is so big. Only ate breakfast there and it was superb - I couldn't think of anything that they didn't have or wouldn't get for you. If I ever make it back to Kigali, I will definitely stay here again. I was with a group trip that I prepaid so I have no clue how much the room would have cost normally. I would imagine it is quite expensive, but under the condition I was in, it was well worth it.

Room Tip: you feel like a king, queen, or big-wig executive in an upgraded room
