I am actually really impressed w/ Papyrus' new building. It's huge, nicely furnished, welcoming, and set up really well to cater to people out for a fun night. As a night spot, I would rate it highly. The service is good. The drinks are a bit pricey though. And they don't have waragi!!?!?!?!? Wtf??? That' a bit annoying (since you then have to pay 5 times as much for some gin).
But the low rating is for my pizza. I was starving and excited to try it. I HATE the gouda covered pizzas in Rwanda - there are other (several other!!!) cheeses available in this city and I don't understand why every single restaurant is too cheap to actually put them on a freakin pizza. Gouda pizza is disgusting. Period.
So I carefully order a pizza with both Mozarella AND Ricotta, and NO GOUDA. The guy who owns Papyrus is the same guy who owns Masaka farms, which MAKES and SELLS fresh mozarella and fresh cream. No excuse for having gouda on your freakin pizza.
So then it comes, and...surprise surprise...gouda, gouda, and MORE gouda, and no mozzarella or ricotta. I ddin't bother asking the poor waitress b/c she was nice and probably wouldn't know what I was talking about, but the cooks and owner should know better.
Papyrus definitely isn't the first place in Kigali where I've been scammed on real cheese vs plasticy gouda, but here, I find it even more unacceptable.
