“Funky, quirky awesome hotel - stay here when in Reunion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

Unfortunately we only stayed overnight between flights - great value.
Great unusual atmosphere, not just trendy for the sake of it, not at all pretentious like most boutique hotels.
Even though small, foyer, lounge, dining, pool, garden etc. all comfortable enjoyable spaces.
Room & bathroom tiny but very comfortable.
Tech - TV WiFi etc. modern & excellent.
Service friendly and excellent.
Close to downtown restaurants, cafes, clubs & shops
Enjoyed excellent dinner & breakfast

The Juliette Dodu is in the local creole style. Nicely located close to the water front and the centre town.

The price is maybe on the high side but the friendliness and quality of service by the personnel are excellent.

The dinner is always based on local food / creole cuisine and very tasty

I read some previous reviews quoting that the size of the rooms is too small. Rooms are not large but there is enough space in the rooms

Room Tip: Prefer a room 'facing' the pool. The rooms on ground floor at the back have more A/C noise

I found reunion to be much friendlier to English speakers and this hotel was no exception. Everyone at reception spoke English. The room was pleasant. The second floor public veranda was a wonderful place to pass your time. There is a pool which is visually pleasant.

The breakfast was good with a view of the pool. There is a book exchange in the lobby with enough English language selections. There is a parking garage underground. There is a nice bar in the lobby.

The location is very central, close to the seaside, with some great restaurants, and the business area to the south.

Small metroplitan French Hotel in the heart of St. Denis. Quaint is one way to describe it, compact is another, squeezed in maybe another! Plusses - very friendly and relaxed staff, central-ish location yet nicely quiet and off the beaten path enough to be a bit of a sanctuary. Clean, and after four years living in Africa, a great tonic and easy way back into a European lifestyle again. Minuses...stairs, stairs and some more stairs. Even with the elevator, you are in an MC Esher-esque world of stairways everywhere! Breakfast was certainly on the more spartan side and so was fine, not exceptional. Rooms quite simply are stylish but tiny, in that way that only French metro hotels can achieve. We stayed there two single nights on our way into and out of the island, and we liked it and would go back, but it would be a 'squeeze' and them some to do 3-4 nights in the rooms! We did like hotel cat!

What a disappointment! I was looking forwards to stay in the birth place of Juliette Dodu but the hotel is in desperate need of paint and some renovation
The meals were terrible and the dining room had no ambience.
It might have a great location but on two separate occasions that we stayed there, in different rooms the showers were leaking.
Not a hotel that I will stay in again.

This hotel is in the best part of town - near the shopping mall and the waterfront. Restaurants and bars are very close...so no need to drive anywhere. the building is an old historical site so has some true character and color. The rooms are expensive for their size (difficu and a little noisy if near to the main road as we were but worth it for the location. The pool and spa was cold unfortunately so we couldn't really use it and the breakfast is a simple continental style (nothing fantastic). Reception staff were friendly and helped us to find out where on the map to dine and where the good bars were etc.Given the location you will likely spend more time out of the hotel than in, so really it's just a place to sleep, but it's comfortable and very convenient - a 3 star.

I love this hotel. It is right in the centre of St Denis and close to the sea front but it is like a small haven.

The hotel is a historical building and is the nicest hotel in the city. The restaurant is good and there is a nice bar, swimming pool and jacuzzi. If you want to stay in a traditional hotel and get a real sates of Reunionese life, then try this hotel.
