“Abuja's Best Restaurant serving Vegetarian as well”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

Well wakkis has some amazing food and this too in Abuja where one is hard pressed to find anything better than Suya or Shawarma as the eating out culture is non-existent. But be prepared that you are not going to find genuine Indian food but rather Africanised Indian food which is still very nice. Also this is one of the few places in Abuja where you can find food for the vegetarian.

“As reviewed @ tripadvisor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

It was more or less as the reviews trough tripadvisor.. It is good, spicy, clean, fair prices, good environment, nice staff.. Nothing to complain except it was not in India with an Indian atmosphere... Worth going there for one night dinner if you are in Abuja.

“Nice food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Normally for some strange reason, it is when I head for London that my family visits several Indian restaurants in North London (Crouch End, Hornsey). I've known about Wakkis whilst living in Abuja but never bothered to go. But Valentine's Day came along so hubby and I decided that we'd give it try. Because it was a special occasion we had to book in advance and on the night when we arrived, we were taken to our reserved table by one of the waiters. There was great music played (and much better than what was played opposite by a competitor!) and it wasn't too long before the food came. I ordered Tandoori Chicken and rice and my husband order Chicken tikka with bread and rice. We had an assortment of pickles, spices etc and for drinks, we both ordered salted Lassi. The meal was quite generous to point that we were unable to finish all. We spent the rest of the evening just enjoying music and when we left, I was given a fresh red rose. Ahh! So nice!!

“The most reliable restaurant in Abuja, for sure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Abuja has few restaurants, and of those few only a handful are worth visiting. Wakkis is definitely one of them. The food would be good by nearly any standard, the service is reliable and the place is clean. The fish is especially good. Wakkis is a bright spot in a dreary, drary landscape.

“Good Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

I have eaten here several times. The food is good especially if you like Indian flavor. The interior is made of woods, burnt bricks, thatched roof etc which gave the place a natural look and make you feel close to nature. The food are cooked right inside the seating area which makes you feel like a participant in the cooking.
The service could be slow at times, but the staff are very polite. And if you can't finish your food they can pack the rest for you.
A bit pricey though and the menu very limited. But you will enjoy the experience.
The inside could get really hot at times especially if you seat upstairs
