“Really Shoddy Service and Facilities”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

I stayed here for 4 nights and honestly, it was truly a terrible experience.

The good. Most of the staff are courteous but lack the requisite hospitality training.

The bad: The food is absolutely terrible. One my first night, I ordered dinner. It was undercooked and when I complained, they have the nerve to try and charge me for the replacement meal. The breakfast buffet has really limited options but even worse, the eggs are soggy, oatmeal caked up, the bread and buns did not taste fresh and the orange juice was sour. The eggs and sausages seemed to be fried in really old oil used to fry other stuff. Complimentary water is not offered in the rooms even though they charge the equivalent of $250/night. The rooms are poorly cleaned and it would seem that they simply make the bed and empty the bins. They do not clean the bathrooms. The staff do not have the training that lets them understand that shouting or talking really loudly to each other in the restaurant is uncouth. Finally, the food is not particularly tasty and it is certainly overpriced. The hotel ensures that they nickel and dime every guest till check out. Really shameful. If there was a manager on site, I did not see one.

The air conditioner in my room was leaking badly and it made the room damp. The internet service is spotty and the TV channels lacked variety and lost signal for the most part.

I DO NOT recommend this hotel and will certainly never stay here again.

Service was below par, and the room wasn't well maintained. Internet is okay but room was quite cramped. Although the place was manageable it definitely wasn't worth the huge fees.

Overall i likely won't be here again.

This hotel is neat and clean, the staff (from the gate and all the way) are the most professional I have seen in Abuja. The location, the structure, the ambience and facilities are good. Things and people function here. The complimentary breakfast is great and too much for me but don't reduce that for the benefit of others. This is much better than Hilton Abuja in service - I almost forget I am in Nigeria.

The little snag for me is closing the pool and gym by 7:30pm. I think it should be left open to in-house guests for use anytime.

Notwithstanding, I have no regrets staying here at all and highly recommended to all. Hope they sustain this!

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The rooms are clean, big and with nice interior. The bed is quite comfortable and the bathroom is big. The service is really good as well. Overall, it was a good experience and comfortable stay with a good sleep. The breakfast lacks varieties except they have a buffet over the weekends but it is still good. The Internet kept troubling me throughout the stay with a couple of instances of complete cut-off. But it seems this is common in Nigeria. In fact 3G worked quite well so it compensated in a way. I was lucky that the hotel Internet worked consistently and with good speed for a straight 30-min when I was rescheduling my flight over the phone using VoIP line from my laptop. Hence, I don't have any formal complaint about the Internet. The hotel staff is well groomed and courteous. I am thankful to them as they didn't have any hesitation on my request for a very late check-out. Overall, it is a good hotel and worth recommending to other travelers.

For years this hotel has been my first place of choice any time am in Abuja. I spend several nights in this hotel mainly because of its strategic location which make it very easy to reach almost all government offices in abuja within the shortest possible time. the hotel Security structure, the good restaurant/ shopping mall directly opposite the hotel is an added advantage. The staff are quite helpful.

Room Tip: Make sure the tv are on and the tv are clear. Some of the tv in the rooms re not so clear. Avoid the...

This is the second time I stayed at the Summerset. I enjoy staying here. It is comfortable, rooms are large and the internet generally works. They were replacing/installing carpets while I was there - I wish they would just leave the ceramic tile or wooden floors - so much cleaner and fresher. The complimentary breakfast is simple, but adequate, staff are helpful and the pool is clean. The location is good (not far from the Hilton) and in an area that is pleasant to walk in, should you desire. The Summerset is a nice, boutique type hotel, offering comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price (for Nigeria).

I checked into the same room (011) where my colleague had a terrible experience more than 12 months ago and the situation was worse. On the 1st day I complained seriously about a terrible damp stench. Nothing was done. 2nd day air humidifier was brought in the morning. By the following morning it was gone, leaving the room smelling more with visible mould under the veneered floor.

Never returned, on the 3rd day after a hard day's job I had to beg for 45 mins b4 the air cleaner was brought back (please see picture). 5 mins later I made to use the bed and almost got thrown out - the bed had disintegrated - it was like a trap. It took my walking to shout at the front desk b4 someone was sent to set it up again. I got a call later apologizing and asking if there was another complaint. I said I hoped not. But 10mins later there I was complaining that the air conditioner wasn't cooling. I requested for some repairs and left for the piano bar at Nicon hotel to enable them work.

I returned 2.5hrs later and saw a fan by my bed with explanation that the air conditioner will be worked on the next day.

Tourists, business travelers, families and lovers of decent places, please you be the judge. Goodluck if you want to come here.

Room Tip: Choose wherever you want if you want to come here.
