“Can do better.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

The food was good and reasonably priced, but they did not have any of the wines wanted. The waitress did not look experienced but was friendly. We asked for an ice bucket for our wine and it was dirty, had to avoid looking at it in order toenjoy my meal. The whole place needs refurbishment ad new linen. Also, the service part of the kitchen is open and not very neat....

“Good local restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2011

The first impressions can be a little off putting – it is a little shabby, not hugely inviting and the service was a little casual. But put these qualms aside, the food is excellent as is evident from the number of locals eating there. We both ate the specialities; there's a Cameroonian chef who does very good “curries”. Rich spicy sauces and very good meat. Very reasonably priced and highly recommended.

“My best food in Namibia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2011

It was the best food I had during my entire Namibia Trip. Period. They make great Curries there (with meat and vegetarian).
We came around 8:30 PM for dinner, got a table outside in the back, mostly lid by two candles on the table. The waitress was friendly and fast and the food a delight. If we would have stayed longer in Windhoek, we would have gone there again.

“Good food Bad Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

My colleagues and I decided to pop into La Marmite on a friday right after work, since it was too early to have dinner and abit chilly we ordered warm drinks, since they do not serve Latte's or Espresso, we opted for Hot chocolate. We waited for over 30 minutes - turns out they had run out of milk and quickly send one of the staff to go buy milk at the store nearby (they obviously do not stock up). Our Hot chocolates came and we had to send them back as they where too cold and too milky, not enough hot chocolate,. We ordered Cameroonian lamb Curry, Pork cooked in ginger and Lamb chops, I swear their dishes are the best, but they took way too long to be served and by time they came we had to send them back again to be warmed. The pap portion was too small, my colleague had to ask for a 2nd portion. After dinner we continued with our drinks only to be told they ran out of Jack Daniel. Our waitress was nice but inexperienced, the place could do with abit of revamping and the bar area needs cleaning up and a screen so as the restaurant guests arn't exposed to the clutter thats in the bar area. With 2 toilets that can be used by both male and female not really the best and there are no towels or soap to wash hands.
