Arriving at the Hilton in Windhoek was quite pleasant after my 4 hour drive from the Namibian coast on a Friday afternoon. The check-in went smoothly, though no welcome drink was offered.
The rooms of this hotel is really nothing to rave about in comparison to the other hotels in Windhoek being rated only as 4 star accomodations. The King size bed was a bit hard to my liking and the room seemed a bit cramped with not too much space to move around. The LCD television is not what I expected, a bit small and the level at which it is placed in the room seemed a bit low, just a few inches above the mini-bar.
I took an upgrade to an executice room which was a real disappointment, this only gave us access to the executive lounge on the 9th floor which was just a large bar with some dried fruit and biltong as snacks, there were 3 bowls of fruit consisitng of apples, plums and grapes.
Our first morning at breakfast we were greeted by some of the most friendly staff and the on the second morning, it was all gone, we had to call on waiters to serve coffee and waited quite a while for fresh milk as the milk on the table was sour. The variety at breakfast was average and not what I expected from a HILTON hotel.
Anyway, it was a good experience, but I will opt for one of the 4 star establishments when next in Windhoek, they are cheaper and offer the same room type, service and breakfast..
Oh! just one last thing, when driving and parking your vehicle in the basement parking, beware, if you have an SUV or a long vehicle, it is not easy getting out of the parking basement.
On weekends, try to get a room far from the 9the floor where the sky-bar is as this can become noisy...

Thanks for your feedback which is greatly appreciated and will certainly help our young team to further develop and grow. In regards to welcome drink we have implemented this now for all guests coupled with a fresh towel at Reception and in Ex. Lounge. Furthermore I am glad to inform you that we are also in the process of upgrading our Food offering during the day in the Ex. Lounge and I am glad to note that on the first day you had one of our highly trained Ex. Lounge Hostesses with you, be assured I have discussed the lack on the second day with my Front of House Manager and Ex. Lounge Supervisor. In regards to TV have noted your comments and would like to add that we are also upgrading the TV channel offering with further 8 channels by the end of this month. Having said that should you wish to return to Windhoek feel free to contact me personally (Roman.Kopacek@hilton.com) so I can show you our improvements, we also have gone out with some attractive value for money specials.
