During my last holiday I travelled to Mozambique and South Africa. The reason that I still am a little bit home sick for Maputo consists of the enormous amount of overwhelmingly sweet, helpful, ethousiastic and interested people that I met during my 9 days stay there. The reason that I went to Maputo was the fact that I wanted to organise a soccer tournament for children from the slumbs in Maputo on behalf of the Orange Kids Foundation, an organisation that aims to create a smile on the faces of children in developing countries by way of sports and games, of which I am a board member. The staff of The Quiet Corner Guest House appeared very involved and helpful in the organisation of the tournament. Especially Onesimo, one of the clerks, who, on the age of 21, is an English teacher and is setting up his own school for ICT, English courses and music education, showed a great sense of organisational talent and has arranged everything for us, from contacting the schools for the tournament, to arranging cooks from the slumbs to provide the lunch for the participants on the day of the tournament, to buying all the groceries needed for that day. We only brought the idea, he arranged everything from that point, very impressive! Also the owners of the guest house, an Italian man who is married with a Mozambiquan woman, are very sympathetic and warm people. We had a lot of pleasant conversations, and also they were really involved in the organisation of the tournament. On the day of the tournament they came by to watch, because they were so interested, very nice. I felt most welcome and at home from the first moment I stepped into the guest house until we left. During our stay of nine days we really built a personal relationship with all staff members, from the owners, the clerks, the cleaning ladies to the securty guy who takes care for safety of the guest house, 24/7. Furthermore, the rooms and sanitary facilitations are clean, there is a quiet and safe athmosphere, and breakfast is provided in the form of juice, bread, fruit, coffee, etc. The only points of attention for me would be the pricing, which I think is somewhat high compared to other locations we visited, and related to that, the quality of the breakfast facilities. I look with LOTS of positive memories back to my stay in Maputo, and the Quiet Corner Guest House definitely contributed to that! It was an unforgettable experience!:-)

It’s nice and gratifying knowing of your warm gratitude for our job and we feel proud for sharing a bit of the great success gained by your philanthropic initiative!
P.S. I totally agree with you about prices! Even though we strive to keep our prices at a very competitive level, compared to other similar services in Maputo, as a matter of fact prices in Maputo are somewhat high compared to several other locations.
Let me add that we are working hard to offer customers better prices in the future by mean of scaling up our business.
Hopefully we will deserve a full score next time you guys will visit us :-)
Keep doing the good job!
All the best
