I cannot understand why one has to park your vehicle in a parking spot where you would be exiting the Garden, and then have to walk, what felt like kilometers, to the entrance gate! What if one had elderly people, etc.? Must they be dropped off at the gate to wait for you? The whole setup just didn't work for me. Then, after paying our 200 rupees pp as entrance fee, they 'were out of stock' of maps of the Garden, so you had to pay someone to walk through the park with you to explain everything to you. We did enjoy the walk by ourselves, exploring as we went, and also saw the huge water lillies. They were not as impressive as in photographs or the Internet, but there was a sign to say it was not the best time of year for them. There are some beautiful trees though and one that is now in bloom which apparently flowers once in 60 years only. We must have spent an hour or so there.
Note! The toilet facilities were OK, but as with just about all these facilities around the whole of Mauritius, make sure to take your own toilet paper with you! If it is not in a fancy shopping mall, there will NOT be any toilet paper!
