“Beautiful island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

Visited this stunning island as part of a sailing trip. Despite being busy with other visitors, it was very peaceful. Beautifully clean beaches and clear water for swimming. Didn't sample any of the food on offer but did have a refreshing drink in the shade by the bar. An interesting children's play area was under construction when we visited. Sure it will occupy the adventurous!

“Ile aux Cerfs is AMAZING 5 Star! Bateaux Vicky not so great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

We booked our tour of Ile aux Cerfs through Bateaux Vicky. They offer a variety of packages -we got the budget one, a great price but the service was lacking. We arrived at their office in Trou d'eau Douce around 8.45 then waited around 30 minutes until a boat could be found to take us out. The driver didn't tell us anything except that he didn't work for Bateaux Vicky and was just helping them out, then blasted us with his musical choice on the CD player. We arrived at the island - not knowing what we had just seen or what the plan was. It was incredibly beautiful but we wouldve appreciated a friendlier more informative introduction to paradise. On the island we were greeted by friendly salesmen who quickly ran through the menu of activity choices. We sprang for the beach loungers and parasailing. Not cheap but worth it. Then we enjoyed a couple blissful hours with the kids swimming in the bathtub warm, knee deep water - finding starfishes and the occasional sea urchin and getting way too much sun (you cannot bring too much sunblock!). We were not offered any refreshments so we were happy we'd brought our own water and snacks. Then at 12 noon we were told to go back to the dock for the next stage of the tour - a boat ride to the waterfall. Again, with no information, music blaring and no sun protection we raced off into the deep. It was breathtakingly beautiful. The waterfalls are so-so, but the trip was great - monkeys and bats in the trees along the river. Just wish the boat had a roof/tarp to block some of the sun. Next stop was another part of the island for our barbeque lunch. We were ravenous and feasted on bbq chicken, grilled fish and pineapple and bananas. Finally we were offered water and other beverages. There are no toilets on the lunch island so be prepared to rough it... Then back to Ile aux Cerf's main beach (where our beach loungers still had our towels on them) for more idyllic frolicking in the water. We tried to get cleaned up before our return trip but the shower drains were clogged so we did a quick rinse in the sinks of the bathroom, then headed for the dock. All the Batteaux Vicky boats leaving at 4 pm were full so again we were told to wait. Eventually we did get a ride back (same musical repertoire) and were treated to a bit of racing dare devil driving which I thought was fun but scared the kids... Then it was over. Would I go again? In a heartbeat! Would I go with Batteaux Vicky? I'm not so sure...

“Relaxing and enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

We visited the island during a catamaran trip. The trip statred wirh a cruise and visit to the waterfall close to the island. We also made a stop at the parasailing platform which my 4 year old enjoyed a lot. We then went onto the island which is very beautiful. We were on the island for approximately 2 hours and I recommend that this is long enough to explore and enjoy what is available. Very beautiful and worth the visit. I however think that the locals over rate the island a bit as most of the beaches on the east coast have similar beauty.

“Quiet and beautyful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Compared to the crowded hotel-beaches it was very quiet and relaxed - go there on a weekday (not at the week-end).

“Enjoyed the parasailing :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

We made a whole-day trip to Isle aux Cerfs, which was combined with a lunch and a short trip to the waterfalls. We enjoyed our day very much, but the location was not ideal for swimming, the water was very shallow and the island did not look like as usual, so hard to tell what would have been if everything was normal :)

Great water-sports possibilities, we tried the parasailing and enjoyed it very much. However, it seemed a little short for us for 50 euros :)
