“Ticks the important boxes and the bar area is lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Rooms may not feel like the height of luxury but they are clean and functional, showers OK. Bar/cafe area, a small courtyard with trees, is a little oasis within Lilongwe; the food and drink was of good standard and excellent value. Happy to recommend to others.

We loved Kiboko – not an upmarket place to stay, but a zany and happy place. Good value for money, clean, attractive, and bang in the centre of town, so all amenities on the doorstep. Super courtyard backyard, with tables, bar and sofas under the trees, a cool and relaxing place to chill out. This is also the breakfast area. Equally happily there is also an good restaurant immediately downstairs, which has as good an atmosphere as the Kiboko. The staff are helpful and efficient. Having been unimpressed by the high cost of wifi throughout Malawi we appreciated free access here. We met an eclectic range of guests in the hotel – clearly it is used by regulars in the know.

Stayed here the night before we left Malawi. Will definitely stay again. Clean rooms, nice staff, great little bar and courtyard seating area. Close to local crafts market if you want to acquire any items before you leave if staying prior to airport departure.

We had two nights here at the end of a long camping trip. We wanted space to sort packing and a bed. Kiboko offered both along with a very friendly welcome, a lovely cafe (with a decent continental breakfast included), very hot water and a decent night's sleep (we were surprised by how very quiet it was at night, given the central location). We had a deluxe double: nothing fancy but nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable.

I booked a night at the Kiboko town hotel based on the reviews of other travellers here. It lives up to its solid ratings. Centrally located with a great courtyard restaurant (with a relaxed vibe, good food and live music). The staff are helpful and friendly, and the rooms are clean, and well appointed (but not fancy or pretentious). Great location and good value. Highly recommend the Kiboko Town Hotel.

A really friendly and welcoming place to stay , probably the best I have found in the central area of Lilongwe for the price, Clean and comfortable rooms, helpful staff and the restaurant serves good food. Definitely worth a visit.

We stayed in Kiboko twice, last month, and both times we felt very welcome and at home. The rooms are smallish, but altogether it is value for money and the location is great. The very friendly staff (reception desk but also the kind nightwatch!) does all they can to make your stay pleasant. The cafe is fine, the rooms are clean, the showers are hot, nothing wrong with it!
