“Amazing hotel and amazing staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

This is a amazing restoration of a traditional Madagascan property, with amazing views over the entire city, this and the attention to detail makes it a 5* [in my opinion] boutique hotel... additionally staff are very helpful, it's professionally run throughout!

The owner assistance us when Air France cancelled our flight home, she was actually first to inform us to the possible delay... maybe 5 hours before even Air France.

1 last bonus is they provide the best breakfast in Madagascar!

This place is guaranteed NOT to let you down on any level. Many Thanks to Lokanga Boutique Hotel for completing our perfect holiday, Emma & Juan

What an excellent hotel! We stayed for 2 nights in 2 different rooms - Purple & Rose - very happy! Service is excellent - everyone was very friendly and helpful. Manager is very open to suggestions.

Food is excellent. Loved the curry - tho it wasn't on the menu on the second day.

The view is amazing.

Thank you for a great stay!

This 6 rooms hotel is one of the loveliest hotels we were ever in.
It has a beautiful view, 6 different rooms (one of the a suite), and a wonderful lounge and reception area. Everything is in high western standards.
We were the only guests of the hotel that night, and were showd all of the rooms to pick. All of the are nice, spacey and comfortable. Our room had a bathtub, but not all the rooms have one.
Some of them have a common balcony with a great view to the city.
The service is great also - they know very good English, and even prepared us a special early breakfast before we went to our flight.
This is defenatly the best hotel in Antananarivo, and even in all of Madagascar!

Room Tip: We had "The English Room". It has a separate bathroom with an English tub and a big sink...

We stayed at the Lokanga having booked for 2 nights before going travelling around Madagascar. We were coming back to Tana prior to our flight out and had thought we would stay somewhere different. We changed our minds after staying here for two days. It is a delightful setting with a wonderful view over the town. The owner and staff could not have been more helpful, giving tips on places to go for massages, restaurants etc. The rooms are all very different. We had a suite on the top floor when we first stayed and then a room on the first floor with balcony the second time. It depends what you want...big bed, bath... balcony.... but all the rooms are decorated in a very individualistic way. The food was ok...not great, but many nice restaurants in tana and taxis at night are easy. Actually, breakfast good...with lovely chocolate brownies. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Depends what you want... Ask and they will guide you to right room

Dear Guest
thanks very much for taking time to put a review in Tripadvisor. The Chef will be working hard to improve the food! And we will keep the brownies in the breakfast menu.
We hope to see you again at Lokanga Boutqiue Hotel.

Stayed here for the final 2 nights of our honeymoon and we were so happy with our choice! It's perched on the royal hill, overlooking the whole of Tana and about a hundred metres from the closed down palace. While it is not in the centre of town, it is an easy and pleasant stroll downhill (we got cabs back up!) and I think the location couldn't be better. Staff were faultless and the baroque room with it's antique bed, freestanding claw foot bath and general feel of opulence was exactly what we wanted. Food was good and staff faultless. It's not cheap but worth it as a special treat. I'm already planning my return visit!

Most beautiful view of Antanarivo + pristine restorated traditional house + XIXth/early XXth century furniture + wonderful owners and staff = One of a kind in Tana.

Room Tip: The Suite is just amazing

I was traveling with a small group and stayed one night on December, 2011. The house reminds me of some of the better, funky B&B in the UK. The house is an extensively restored, old grand house with wonderful views of the city below from the terrace. The owner and staff were wonderful. Try to have dinner there. It was very good.

Room Tip: Try one of the rear, upstairs rooms. Each one is different and has a view of the city.
