“Loud hotel staff = no restful sleep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

I've stayed here three nights during my current trip to Accra, and the main thing I want to point out is that I didn't have any restful sleep to speak of unfortunately. Each morning in early hours, some 4-5 hotel staff would congregate right in front of my and my neighbouring room and talk loudly, laugh, and have fun. I have no problem with them enjoying themselves--anything to make their no doubt hard work easier to handle makes sense--but I just didn't understand why that had to be right in front of hotel guests' rooms. On the third night I asked them in a friendly way whether they don't have staff rooms where they can hang out to talk, they said yes they do, and proceeded to promise not to do so in front of my room anymore. Well, the damage of reduced productivity for me was already done.

Warning for other guests: don't stay in the ground floor rooms that are further in the back, that seems to be where the "partying" seems to happen. Aim instead for one floor up if you have to stay here.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms starting with "1" (i.e. ground floor rooms) for the reasons mentioned above.

The place was ok, since the price was affordable and it was 'clean'. I didn't see any pests like other reviewers, but there was a strong smell from cleaning products and pesticide that for the more sensitive olfactory glands could be a bit nauseating. The beds were very comfortable and the AC was convenient. There was also a nice desk for doing work and a television.

The pool is rather dilapidated, though there is a small outdoor gym next to the pool that could come in handy for something to do locally, since you're not close to any attractions there. The restaurant served decent Chinese food for dinner, and then served the Chinese food leftovers for breakfast buffet the next day. My breakfast of seschuan beef one morning was the saltiest thing I have ever tried.

The service however, was very friendly. The wait staff filled my coffee and brought me milk right at the table for me and were very pleasant.

I had the misfortune to stay here for 3 weeks on a recent business trip. The room I had was large and clean with functioning shower and aircon. However on a few occasions when getting up in the night I was startled to see large mice running around. The hotel did not do anything sensible like setting traps or getting pest control. Rather they had people check that for the mice, which unsurprisingly were not in evidence during the day. Staff overall are friendly and try to help but service is slow and don't expect anything proactive or any concept of good customer service. Breakfast is quite good but restaurant overall poor. For a brief stay over close to the airport this place will do but don't recommend for anything longer.

Acceptable rooms, not like the scary photos posted on web. Much cleaner than expected. Very simple. Don't depend on wake up calls. Restaurant is not good, and not a rich breakfast whatsoever. Yet it gives you a feel that you are in Africa. Overall pleasant nothing to worry about. Very friendly staff.

I stay over in Accra very frequently. Usually it is only for one night. All I am looking for is a good clean room with hot water, working aircon, wifi and not be charged $300/night.
This hotel offers this for around $120/night.
Most of the facilities in the room works and it’s all clean.
I have two issues with the hotel.
1 - Any extra's cost a fortune. I paid $23 for two cheese and tomato sandwiches and a few cokes. The bread was bad, the cheese was plastic and the service was poor. Small bottle of water at reception is $1.5 and no drinking water in the room. It costs you $0.5 per page that I had to get printed there. I don’t like to be ripped off.
2 - Staff is friendly, but simply not well trained or really interested in good service.

Room Tip: Rooms that start with nr 3

Everything about this place is overpriced. Avoid it if you can. I'm only here because my company has an account. 3 GHc for s small water. 9 GHc for a Heineken. Can't wait to leave. Go to African Regent. First class. I actually have a 13" tv in my room. Didn't think they made those anymore! STAY AWAY!!!!
