More or less what's expected with a Novotel; a little bland but clean and friendly. Excellent pool and poolside service, great gym, cool, shady places to sit outside and a superb patisserie in the foyer. The food and drink prices are reasonable by European standards but, of course, very high by local standards. If you have a delicate stomach, we would advise sticking to eating in this hotel or similar. In spite of all the usual precautions, we became extremely ill after eating out in a restaurant in Osu.
Beware of being pestered by taxi drivers once you leave the hotel.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Arts Centre, the bus station and the markets.
You can take a taxi to Osu, where many of the bars and restaurants are, for between 10 and 20,000 cedes. Do be prepared to haggle. If you're a young student, they charge you less. If they think you're an affluent older person, they will charge more. If you do go to Osu, don't eat salads!

It took an hour to check in, the staff was indifferent. Our room was damp and small. Service was slow in the restaurant. I don’t bring the same set of expectations to hotels in Ghana as I have in the United States, but I was still disappointed in this location. I would not stay here again.

Despite having an email from the hotel confirming they would pick me up at the airport, they failed to do this, and I had to pay someone to call them for me. They did send the driver back but I had to wait around for about half an hour. The rooms are a bit tatty now, and the corridors stark and depressing. A notice advised that there would not be any electricity in the hotel from 9 a.m. until the afternoon due to "changing a generator". Indeed, this was the case, and the hotel was in total darkness with no TV or elevators working. No discount was offered and I couldn't even give them my favourite guest card to register my points as their photocopier was not working, of course..... Nothing like the usual Novotel standard and I hope I don't have to stay here again.

“Nice staying”

I enjoyed my "one month" staying there. It's a nice hotel with european standards. Rooms are confortable and clean. Hotel staff is kind and helpful. Location is in the city center.

Food:
Breakfast buffet is deliciuos. They also have buffet for dinner (170.000 cedis) and a-la-carte menù with a couple of ghanian dishes I recommend.

Internet access:
they have wifi service only in the ground floor, but the connection speed is too low [you can use wireline serivce in your room or ask for a "premium" wifi service, but I didn't try them]

Fitness center:
It's quite small, equipped with several brand new "technogym" machines and free weight (no bars). Opening hours are from 7 am to 10 pm.

I would recommend it !

“Much improved hotel in business location”

We have just stayed twice at this hotel: 24 and 25 December, returning to it 5-9 January 2006. The hotel was very quiet over Christmas and we got an upgrade to 6th floor (room 601) on first stay and used this experience to get an upgrade to room 609 for the second stay.
The hotel is close to Ministries and to Makola Market but is a long way from Osu where the main touristy restaurants are located. However the taxi fare should be no more than EUR 2.00
The hotel looks like most others in the Novotel group, and all the better for that. The bedrooms, with one large bed and a settee convertible to a single bed could have been in most Novotel. Bathroom and toilet are separate, again common in many Novotel.
The buffet breakfast was OK but lacked the range of fruit and breads at its sister Mercure hotel in neighbouring Lome - but the cost is built into the room rate.
We ate a couple of times, once taking the buffet and once the a la carte. We were content.
The air conditioning was only partially working during our second stay and was totally switched off on day of departure, while major repairs were undertaken.
The business centre has three internet PCs which are expensive. At an hourly rate, it was about EUR 18 per hour. Opening hours are idiosyncratic.
The hotel has an open air pool 20 metres in length. It was much used by ex-patriates on Saturdays and Sundays.
Since we stayed in December 2003, there has been a change of Manager. We thought it showed, in the quality of service and attitude of staff.
