“Better than expected with a nice pool.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2011 via mobile

If you are a swimmer, you will appreciate the approx. 20 meter pool, longer than most hotel pools. The area around the pool is nice. The service was consistently good. The downside is that there really isn't anywhere within walking distance, though that may change in the next year with all the construction nearby.

As a frequent business world travler, I was very happy to have found this hotel in Ghana. I give them a solid 4+ star. Can't go wrong here, ask for the 6th or 7th floor suites.

Very accommodating for business travelers.

The hotel is very conveniently located for the airport and business district and yet you do not get intrusive airport noise. The hotel pick-up and drop-off is free and efficient. I found the check-in to be efficient and friendly. The first impressions are positive with a large and light foyer/lounge area. I had a "deluxe" room on the 4th floor. The room was huge but very sparsely furnished, I would have expected a "lounge" area with a coffee table, instead there were 2 chairs "dumped" in the room both with casters missing which made them rock when you tried to use them. Never did manage to get them repaired/replaced. The room came with a separate toilet which is a nice touch. The "deluxe" room is certainly not worth the extra cost. The over-riding impression though, was the cleanliness (far better than other hotels I've stayed in Accra). Wireless internet is free and reasonable. There were quite a few downtimes but I do not believe that the hotel was to blame. There are 3 places to eat: the restaurant which serves a buffet style lunch and dinner, a bar area which serves a reasonable range of dishes and the pool bar which again serves a reasonable range of dishes and snacks. I was there for two weeks and the choice became a bit limited but that's the same with most hotels. Service was reasonable but there were times when orders were taken but "forgotten". The restaurant was used for breakfast and certainly could not cope with a rush of guests. There were far too few 2 seater tables which meant that most 4 seat tables had one or two guests at them. There seemed to be a shortage of staff at breakfast which meant that there was not continuous replenishment. There were often long queues at the buffet at lunch time as the hotel struggled to cope with the many conferences it was hosting. My main concern was the number of "ladies" who frequented the poolside area in the evenings. There appeared to be no attempt to keep them out and on a number of occasions I found them "riding the lifts". Tighter security is called for. Overall a reasonable hotel but expensive (however maybe not by Accra standards). Finally "the smell". I notice that a number of reviews comment on this and must say that my room had a musty smell as well. I know that the hotel regularly sprays insecticides and can only put it down to this. What I would advise is not to bother to have any final laundry done as you'll need to re-wash everything on your return home.

Holiday inn is one of the upcountry hotel in Accra, which is very good for both business traveller and for family. We stayed with family there. we had a suit room situated on 5th floor. The hotel has a very good vast breakfast laid out and has very good veg and nonveg options. hotel is wifienabled and is free for guests. its restaurent on ground floor has buffet lunch in afternoon. Saturday adn sunday evening is a live band evening on pool side restaurant.
please check the top floor(7th floor) single room above the pool side. the exhaust fan in bathroom sometime has problem and smell do not go out.

Room Tip: choose pool side ones as that is away from airport and the noise will be very less of aircrafts taki...

I was happy with the Holiday Inn after staying at the Golden Tulip, La Palm, and Alisa on prior visits. It was more modern and clean than the others, and its proximity to the airport can't be beat. For about the same price, it's the best option of the main business hotels in Accra.

A Holiday Inn trying to go upscale, but not making it. The entire top floor smelled of mold for days, and maintenance only got part of it - stay off the top floor. AC unit dripped water onto the rug, no mold on the rug but the ceiling was sagging and molding. Night chek out was really slow. The hotel is overpriced because it is right next to the airporat, and Accra traffic can be nearly impossible - the only place to stay to get in and out quickly. The swimming pool is the main attraction for the restaurant - looks nice, but prepare to be on display and walk through the lobby to get there. Mediocre exercise room requires stopping at the front desk for a special key then walking outdoors. The overflow meeting rooms are outdoors. No MasterCard cash machine - there is one hidden a couple of blocks away, but don't try and walk thee after dark - and the Visa machne is outdoors. Nothing is within walking distance, and dinner can take 45 minutes to go a mile if you get caught in traffic. All meals are buffet style in the restarant, you can get better food ordering the the bar.

Gorgious hadwood floors (very slippery!!) in the room and marble tilled bath room with a real bath - fill the bath from the movable shower head (it takes about 15-2) minutes.) Lots of room. (I was on the executive level.) Great African art and hand carved chairs on every floor - walk down the stairs to see. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Touring. If you hire a car, expect to be stopped for security AND then again a demand for a bribe from the next stop, even on the main tourist road. My driven paid the extortionist wearing a police unifrom 5 Cedis (about $3). If you drive (a really bad idea given the crazy drivers and incredible traffic!) be sure to bring cash for a bribe. Another driver had to buy his way out of an illegal left turn ticket.

The coast is really very nice. Not a lot to see, but definetly worth the 100 mile trip (each way) to Cape Coast and Elmina.

There are much nicer hotels, much closer to everything except the airport and US Embassy, and most of them are cheaper, but either stay were you are going or allow a great deal of time for traffic from 4:30-9:00 PM. Stay here for business.

Room Tip: Stay off the top floor due to mold.

The hotel is next to the airport and a free shuttle bus only takes a few minutes to do the journey. The decor in the hotel is very good, African carvings all over the place, it has a 5 start look.
Staffs were good and there are plenty of them. The food was a bit disappointing lots of traditional food buffet style so you don’t go hungry but for the price there are a lot better restaurants in town.
This was one of the draw backs twenty minutes to the town centre by taxi, if you are on business then being near the airport is handy but in the town there are better hotels on the beach that are cheaper.
Rooms were OK nice view of building sites on all sides  clean though and normal stuff you get in a holiday inn. To be honest when I go back I will stay in one of the town centre hotels even on business you need a little fun!
