“What a happy ending”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2011

My wife and I went to Accra just before the christmas holidays. Sadly learnt that we will the last visitors ever to walk though the gates of The cottage.....never the less we had a great time...Mr Kobi Hunter and his wife Lucilda pulled out the red carpet for us.tina;s meals were wonderful and Robert was a grat tour guide, there was never a dull moment. We will always miss Accra and the friends we have made and we thank the Hunters and the Stones for showing us a great time, Unfortunately all good things must come to an end..

ever found one of those amazing friendly places that you just don't wanna leave? this is it for sure, the cottage is more than a bed and breakfast, it's an inviting warm friendly place to come back to after a hectic day in Accra. Lucilda and Kobi are genuinely considerate and caring, the rooms are spacious, clean, and have all the mod cons, which actually work. The food is plentiful and delicious. All the amenities, including apoolside outdoor area, which is great to relax, who needs to leave. Best of all, these guys know all the best places around Ghana and have transport to help you get there - can't wait to return. Loved it! Do yourself a favour and just go, and when you unwind there " just go slow" enjoy the ambience and fun.

This is the place for those who want a bed and breadfast type experience where interaction with the host and exposure to the city of Accra on a local and tourist level is desired. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and well taken care of. The rooms are airconditioned and have their own bathroom . A small refrigieratior is kept stocked with cold drinks and water. The cost is very reasonable and for long stays like mine (4 weeks ) there care discounts. The Cottage is located in the Achimota School area of Accra, not too far from the University of Ghana which by the way has 30,000 students. There is a staff of four who are friendly and courteous and accomodating. What ever level of interection you desire they will graciously honor. There is a pool that is very inviting after being out sightseeing. Breakfast is included in the fees, you are invited to eat with them at dinner. The grounds are small but meticulously landscaped. There is a wonderful breeze on the veranda in the eveningsand invites gathering for lively recaps of the day.

The host (Kobi) and hostess (Lucilda)are very gracious and interesting couple who have lived in Serria Leone, London and Ghana. You will find guests from all over the world who provide exciting conversations at the dinner table. . A big plus is the availabitly of a driver who is very knowlegeable of the city and surrounding area e.g. Cape Coast, Tema, Koforidua. Tours for small groups ( max of 7) can be organized..

Kobi (a retired electrical engineer and entrepreneur) is a chess player. and also has a pool table and will be glad to engage you in a game. He is also an avid golfer and will take you to the golf couse which is located near The Cottage. Lucilda( a retired teacher and librarian) is a historical novelist who has written several books that gives the reader knowledge of their beloved home country of Sierra Leone. An advid reader my self, I had the opportunity to read her four books.

For those who want a individualized pace in which to see and expeirence Accra and surrounding areas, I would highly reccomend The Cottage.

The Cottage is situated within an estate in the Dome suburb of Accra. The rooms are comfortable and the facilities generous. The Cottage is within easy reach of downtown Accra and a winning feature of this guest house is that the owners provide a guest vehicle with driver to ferry guests around. This could include, if needed, being collected from or delivered to the Airport. If you want to get away from the buzz and impersonal nature of a hotel, this is the place for you. I spent almost two weeks at The Cottage in July 2008 and for me it was a home away from home.

  • Liked — General atmosphere and quality of service
  • Disliked — The pool was not quite ready while I was there
