“Tons of character–in a great way”

In a nutshell: The host Genet (who lived in the US for a long time) is an amazing person, happy to help with anything you need; she was waiting for me with a smile twice at the airport. The food was excellent. The décor is extremely pleasant, the bed was comfy. You will feel very welcome and relaxed here. I could go on…I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Addis.

Genet the owner made you feel like you were best friends house. She was warm, gracious, flexible and understanding. She gave us insight into local culture, where to shop and arranged transportation. Additionally her home cook meal was the best I had while in Eithiopia. There is not other place to stay! Such a beautiful and inexpensive alternative to chain hotels. Thank you!

We arrived after a very long late flight and were immedialtly embraced by the beauty of genet's home and her warm personality. My friend made the reservation so I had no idea of what to expect. All five us traveling had nothing but accolades for this oasis of a gorgeous home, fine cuisine made with local ingredients and genet's generous character. Genet helped us with travel plans, a driver and recommendations on shopping. We enjoyed ourselves so much we returned at the end of our trip to spend our last hours relaxing and feasting on her rooftop! My 11 year old daughter thought genet was a very charming and king...she loved the doggies too...not to mention the lovely ladies in the kitchen!

Room Tip: All room were good...we were lucky to have one with a small room connecting for our daughter.

We stayed at Genet's guest house en route to Tanzania so the location close to the airport was ideal. Her warmth and her beautifully decorated home was an oasis in the midst of Addis. Do not be put off by the road outside - Once inside her gate, you feel like you are at home. The food was fantastic and Genet went out of her way to help us, arranging transportation, and even driving us herself. We left our luggage there and spent the day relaxing on our way back from Tanzania. I recommend this guest house without reservation.

This truly is a great place to stay - Kefetew has got a very homely atmosphere! The rooms are clean and the common areas are very cozy! Genet(the owner) is a generous host and the food is delicious and healthy! Genet is also a well of knowledge and is helpful if you need suggestions for things to do or a driver.

In general I find the hotels a bit overpriced and low standard in Addis, so I would definitly choose to stay at Kefetew again the next time I am in Ethipia.

We stayed at Kefetewe guest house three nights in June, 2013. We enjoyed our stay there the entire weekend. The house is very clean. The staff was very friendly and responsive to our needs. Great breakfast every morning! Oh yea, the fastest wifi /internet connection in Addis!

Genet, the owner of the guest house, went even further and allowed us to invite our friends and family to her guest house. We were in Addis for a wedding and so this allowed us to take great pictures in the guest house with friends and family. Not only that but she also cooked lunch free of charge when she noticed that most of us were hungry. This kind of service is unheard of in Addis where people take advantage of you in whatever way they can. Overall, we had a great experience at this guest house and it was great to know that there people that care about true customer experience above all. We highly recommend this guest house if you are looking to stay at place that feels like a home away from home.

I had a wonderful stay at Genet's home when I travelled in Ethiopia on vacation. I live and work in Africa, and often have to come through Addis on the way to other places. I will definitely be coming back. The house is located about 15 minutes by car from the airport, so it is very convenient. Rooms are comfortable and decorated with care, as is the common living room which is a great place to take a break.. Breakfast and dinner are delicious! There is also a nice view over the city. Finally, Genet and her staff really make you feel part of the family. Wonderful place and not too expensive!
