“Well located and value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The Hotel is well located, in a quiet locality close to the airport. The hotel serves breakfast but does not have a restaurant or room service. Good eating places are there close by. Rooms are clean and so are the bathrooms. Hot water is available - there are geysers in every room. Breakfast though not a great spread is good with eggs, pancakes (without syrup) , juice, waffles, fruit etc.

Room Tip: Choose a front facing room on the 4th floor the view is good

I chose this place so that I could sit and work during a three-week work trip to Addis without any distractions or concerns. I liked how there were no variables to consider, because it is clean, predictable, decent breakfast, good wireless, and close to amenities. The down comforter on the bed was the best during cool nights. I would stay here again, although until the construction on Bole Road gets finished, I would NOT stay in Bole again. It is way inconvenient. I would instead stay in another part of the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as high up as you can get, with a balcony.

Stayed here for a total of 11 days, split up. Five days, then I left to do Northern circuit, then one day, then Southern circuit, and finally five days before departure.

Throughout, the service in English was quite good, and the owner very accommodating. After a chat with him, I was able to store my extra luggage free of charge during my trips outside Addis. In addition, we were able to book the 5th floor restaurant for an evening event at a very reasonable price, and on short notice.

The fellow at the front desk and in the 5th floor restaurant were especially welcoming and helpful.

The rooms are quite large and have all the comforts you would expect. There is a small sitting area provided, a desk and mirror, mini-fridge stocked with reasonably priced drinks, and large double-door closet. Beds are clean and comfortable, with white linens. Most importantly, the rooms in general are CLEAN and well-maintained. This is often an issue at Ethiopian hotels as they age.

The washrooms are also clean, and reasonably sized. The shower is a fully glassed-in enclosure, with a handy installed caddy to keep your shampoos and soaps off the floor. There's also tons of storage in open shelves under the sink.

TV with limited channels (but I'm able to watch BBC news and all the 2012 Olympics without issue). Also, there is free WiFi on each floor, with good signal. It has been consistently functional with only one or two hiccups. Slow but reasonable speed for Addis.

Fantastic view from rooms, and especially from the 5th floor restaurant. Breakfast is served here every morning, included with the room. Lovely setting for the meal, plus there's a TV to catch up on news. Reasonable selection, although sometimes there are issues with the speed at which food is replenished. However if you ask the friendly waiter, he will assist you right away, with a smile. Note that there is no lunch or dinner service, or cafe service, although you could arrange something in advance if you wished.

Area is near the airport, and near embassies. Also near tons of small restaurants, grocery store, bank, other shops. Safe and quiet. Easy walking distance to amenities and main road into city (Bole road) but bring shoes you don't mind getting dirty as the sidewalk is essentially rocks and mud. Or you can take a taxi - - there are always a few waiting just before you hit the main road (negotiate price first!).

All in all, this hotel is very very good value for the price, especially in comparison to other hotels in Addis Ababa. The two things that we found most variable in Ethiopia are well-taken care of here: cleanliness and service. Would absolutely recommend and will stay here again if I'm in Addis.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer better views.

Great hotel if you compare price to quality of other hotels in Addis. Clean, friendly, good service. No big lobby or restaurant, but not really necessary with the Bole area and Friendship building nearby.

Only the breakfast is poor. They are understaffed there so you have to ask every morning for the same basics like cups, etc.

We used their conference room facilities for a last-minute meeting. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and they provided the facilities in a very professional manner and at a good price. Unfortunately the rooms were full otherwise we would have prefered to stay there. They showed us the rooms and they seemed really nice, with a balconny. The surroundings are green, friendly and quiet. Next time when I am in Addis I will certainly stay in Sadula Lodge.

Rooms were pretty big in size with balcony. The hotel is in embassy area, hence no security issue. It is very close to pubs and commercial centers, hence one can enjoy stay.

Hotel provides free pick up and drop off from hotel.

Restaurant is open only for buffet breakfast

Hotel staff is extremely helpful and so is the management.

Negatives: Bathrooms do not have enough option for exhaust.

Room Tip: Ask for double room

This is a good quality hotel (not a lodge) rating about 3* relative to other hotels in Addis. One big problem is that the doors to the rooms do not have any rubber stop gaps so slamming doors throughout the night is a problem. It doesn't matter what level you are on, the slamming doors echoe through the corridoors. It wouldn't take much to rectify, but then this is Addis. and this kind of initiative would be a rare occurrence. Price 1100 birr for double room. 1500 birr for suite room.
