The Bole Ambassador could very well be simply called the Ambassador Hotel. My experience with the Bole Ambassador started a week before I arrived at the hotel. When I was applying for my visa at the Ethiopian Embassy in Johannesburg there was a lot of information required as pertains to my stay in Addis, through Mr Manaye Tesfaye, the hotel manager I promptly got all the information that the Embassy required and that hastened the visa processing.
On arrival at the hotel, not only did I like what I saw but I was, like the other people on the team I was with, treated like a true diplomat, I felt like some Ambassador from somewhere. The reception was great, the room I was in was exceptionally good; big bedroom and separate lounge area, always clean and tidy, not to mention the much needed bottle of water every morning. The fridge in the room ensured that after a long day the water or whatever else I had in fridge was nice and cold. The gym sauna and steam room just crowned the Bole experience for me.
Being there for business, Internet connectivity was one of my greatest priorities, every floor had its own wifi router and that ensured that the signal was strong virtually all over the hotel and there were computers, with Skype and all, freely available for guests in the lobby. What else can one want?
As for the food, I loved it to bits, moreso that on the menu there was traditional Ethiopian food as well. The waitresses were ever friendly and helpful and the chef, what a great man, ever smiling and very interactive with the guests, unfortunately I never did get his name, what a caring man, he introduced me to some of his grandmother's secrets on how to enjoy your fresh fruit and juice for breakfast. I won't reveal his secret here, visit the Bole Ambassador to find out.
The shuttle service Ito and from the airport was always reliable, never let us down.
Though having been booked for 3 days, I ended up staying for almost a week.
To the owner, whom I met and had a great chat with, the management and staff of Bole I thank you and would like to say you make me proud to be Afrikan. Keep up those high standards and values.
Believe you me, you have not seen nor heard the last of me. I WILL BE BACK!!!
