“Good food, good variety, good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

One of the restaurants in Addis that has consistently good food and good service. They also regularly try to update the menu and try different food themes which is nice. It is also a nice place to take the family.

“Most popular expat hang-out in Addis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

I would say that the Lime Tree is the main expat café/ restaurant in Addis. So if you don’t like “expaty” places, do not come here. I love that you can sit at both Lime Tree on Bole as well as in Kazanchis as long as you wish without getting the check (i.e. being asked to leave). Especially the one in Kazanchis is a great place for professional meetings because of its central location and its clientele mostly works at the international agencies in the neighborhood. I really like about Lime Tree that they are always keen to improve themselves, with new decorations, a new menus and lots of specials. The menu is one of the most varied and reliable that I know in Addis. The wide range of vegetarian and light meal choices is particularly commendable. Not everything is great and the general level of the food is good, but not outstanding. My favorites are the Mongolian stir-fry (only on two weekdays for lunch), the foul, the Mexican food (on some weekdays only) and the non-fasting chocolate cake. The falafel at the Lime Tree Kazanchis is also pretty good, but only if they use tahini, which they don’t always do. I would advise you to stay away from the house salad with watery dressing, which is not good value for money and the new aubergine sandwich, which has far too little filling for the huge amount of bread. Unfortunately, especially the brown bread is often a little stale, which is untypical for Ethiopia with its great bread culture. The thali is pretty ok, but only if you are not a big fan of Indian food (as it is not very authentic). I agree with the previous reviews that the service is friendly, but quiet inattentive. It usually takes a while to get a waiter’s attention. In the Bole branch they sometimes have wifi, but do not count on it.

“Yum!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

This was a great spot for breakfast. If you have a big appetite, I recommend going for the buffet breakfast (weekends) which had a variety of items to choose from. The menu has a good mix of local dishes and Western cuisine. The hummus was good, as were the somosas. Try to fir-fir too, it had the right amount of spice for our tastes (we like spicy food).

“Nope not good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This little cafe was great 2 years ago, now the quality of the food is poor and expensive. The site is relatively clean and near to big hotels. There are better places to spend money.

“Wifi and good food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Service can be a bit slow and behind schedule, so make sure you have a couple of hours if you are in a big group! They have a variety of food on the menu, which all of us have been quite happy with. Unfortunately, they don't always have everything that is on the menu so you might want to pick out 3-4 things to tell the waiter in case your first choice isn't there. :) Wifi is there, but works better in the middle of the restaurant, so keep that in mind if you need to get online!
