Nice hotel overlooking the lake. Our room was fine with a view of the garden next to the pool. Staff were friendly but lacked some knowledge about who to call for transport etc, but it got sorted out after a while. Gym was open, but the machines didn't start and there was nobody there to assist. The pool area is very nice with attentive staff. The breakfast is nice and included.

This is apparently the best property in town, but somewhat rundown. Rooms are spacious and quiet but AC does not work properly and bathrooms are really rundown. Breakfast is OK but very slow. Nice pool and pool area and very friendly staff. The hotel has its own beach at Lake Tanganika.

The location is not the most convenient if you have meetings in town but for a holiday, that does not matter. The hotel is right next to the water, so there is lots of sand and if you get a room facing the water, you get a great nights sleep. The staff do not speak English, maybe just a few, so you might have to explain yourself over and over again to be understood but even then, they try really hard to please. Overall, its a great place to stay, if you purpose to forget the bad road that leads to it.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lake are less noisy unless you have a problem with the sound of the waves.

Dear Client,

Thank you for your comments. The Hotel organized shuttle to downtown every hour and a special shuttle in the morning for guests going to work or for meetings. The management had initiate a program of English training and Higher number got their certificate and a second group started the same program .The good news for the road is that it's being rehabilitated and will be finished in few months.

It is a small world.
I turned in here after driving down from Butare(Huye), Rwanda. I had just checked in when friends from Kigali arrived to check in. We enjoyed the stay although their accommodation and price wasn't what they had booked, and booking for them hadn't been easy on line. only stayed one night and then they were able to move from what sounds like the room described below by zuliekadobson. They moved into the room that I vacated and were very happy. Food in the restaurant was good and included in the room price.
Apparently recommended by many other colleagues in our program but I just happened in off the street and was treated well.
Massage service was good.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floor lake view.

I have stood at this hotel as choice for security purposes while new in the country for several month. It is considered the best of all hotels in town and I believe country as well. Since the owner is Italian and the crowd of guests almost exclusively foreigners, the amenities are meant to meet the needs of international travelers.
The hotel has a large and clean (to much chlor used though) pool which attracts on weekends upperclass crowds from Burundis capital which are enjoying in family and large numbers.
Bujumbura has actually not many alternatives to offer.
The rooms are clean and somehow spacious enough. Balconies are giving some private space to enjoy the view over the white sandy beach on the lake shore.
For someone staying just a few days at this hotel the choice in one of the two restaurants and pool bistro may be enough, although for anyone staying longer as I did does the food get boring very soon as there are not many dishes to choose from.
It's quiet pricey as everything what in this landlocked country has to do with food, since almost everything has to be imported.
Waiting the tables takes his time, so that quiet often the food arrives not really hot anymore.
Anyone with an more expansive Africa experience will this not surprise..
Hotel provides wifi included but its often down or simply so slow that working with it is impossible.
That's sometimes very annoying since the hotel doesn't provide a business center and you'll have to drive around 20 minutes to down town and use a cyber in case you need it urgent.
The gym is very tiny and mosquito infested, the sauna due to the permanent power cuts often not working (the hotel generator doesn't provide enough power to run the sauna) - but if its working and hot, it's a decent place to relax since its not much used and you can have then the sauna to yourself.
Overall, it's the place I would recommend to stay when someone is new to the city and has enough pocket money to cope with the room costs which are on the highest end of all Buj hotels.
It's safe, clean, entertaining on weekends with live music and dance and gives you the space to take a deep breath full of oxygen on one of the most magical places to be found in contrasts - the mighty Lake Tanganyika nestled between the mountain ridges in Burundi to the left and the truly impressive mountain ridges in Congo on the right.

Stayed at this hotel for conference. Very nice setting near the lake here I swam and nice pool too if one does not want to risk the lake. One or two gaps, eg only had 1 small towel on arrival and a mosquito in the room. Given the risks of Malaria etc, I would expect mosquito killing devices to be standard & spray being widely used. Hotel Could also benefit from a sovenir shop

Room Tip: Make sure you have mosquito killer in room. Hotel will spray on request
