“Best restaurant in Gaborone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

Beautiful setting, good quality food and lovely friendly service make this place very special and one to cherish. Combine having a game drive with lunch on the terrace, go for a romantic dinner or Sunday lunch with the kids- whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed.

“The better Game Reserve near Gaborone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

Mokolodi is a smallish reserve of about 12500 acres situated about 15 km south of Gaborone. It is within easy reach from Gabs for a morning or day trip but many of the roads in the reserve, are either 4x4 or at least certainly not suitable for a family car.
The reserve does offer a wide variety of trips into the reserve on their safari vehicles, which I assume should be booked in advance. Some of the trips sounded great, especially for overseas visitors, such as stalking white rhinos on foot and meeting the tame cheetah for a photo. Some of the trips end with a bush braai (BBQ)
There are good facilities for camping and 5 fully fitted chalets. The only thing we found lacking was a slice for turning our breakfast eggs!
There is also the Mokolodi Restaurant at the gate if one does not feel like cooking. Having supper there gives visitors a chance to do their own night drive back to the chalets.
There is plenty of game and much is very tame so good photos are there for the asking. Some of the best photos I have ever got of giraffes.
The only thing that I found a bit strange was that some species notably Kudu, only seemed to have males in the reserve.
In summary, if you are in Gabs and have a spare day visit it, you will not be disappointed.

“Organised and Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

Besides for some small administration issues, our Bush Braai experience was incredibly special. A one hour game drive with an experienced ranger led to some animal sightings, followed by a buffet braai with very good food and an efficient bar lady. SItting in the cool evening breeze listening to the hippos in the vlei next to us was something I will never forget.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in Gaborone with an evening to spare. (and the price was very very reasonable!)
