“GAME VIEWING ON YOUR DOORSTEP”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

We visit Gaborone game park nearly every month. It was established by the city so that all of us could enjoy an affordable and pleasurable game experience right in the town. There are no predators and the game mainly consists of antelope and the smaller animals. However it is our experience that each visit is different depending on the season and the weather. Of special interest are the wetlands and ponds where numerous waterbirds may be seen including fisheagles and flamingos. However other birds typical of dry south eastern Botswana are also common. We are very fond of the rocky western section which is a favourite haunt of dassies and guinea fowl. The picnic sites in the centre are very popular at weekends too.

“Lots of game in a small area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Just about in town! A very small area with lots of game so there is an animal to see around every corner so the kids don't get bored. One can see mainly what is called plains game, they do not have the big 5, but worth a visit. There are no resturants or shops so take your own drinks!

“Monkey raids spoil picnics”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

It's a lovely small game reserve and very reasonably priced - P10 for the car and P10 per person. The little dams are lovely and there are many smaller animals that make for nice viewing for guests. But don't pay the extra money to picnic! The monkeys are fast, determined and organised! it would be funny, if they weren't so successful. They dart in in waves and distract you long enough for the prime thief to make off with sandwiches, chocolates and anything else they can grab. It's not that big that you need to take food, just some water is advisable in summer.

“Gaborone game reserve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Like all game reserves, sometimes you see lots, and then not ugh the next visit. Just off town centre, it's doable in a saloon car. Lovely dam area with some great bird life. Extremely cheap entrance fee, and maps generally available. Watch out for monkeys at the picnic spot, they can be a real pain.. Great for family or taking young kids as no "dangerous" animals!!

“First taste of Africa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Close to the city, ideal for those who have very little time. Not The Big 5, but nice nevertheless. I went there in winter, which means almost no foliage and perfect visibility.
