We spent two wonderful two nights here in early July as part of a two week trip to Zimbabwe and South Africa. For those wishing to spend a few nights at a safari lodge as part of a trip to Victoria Falls, this is a great place to stay. The lodge is located in a private concession overlooking the Zambezi River providing great views and uncrowded game viewing. This is a great lodge for viewing herds of elephant crossing the river which is a truly wonderful sight. The guides and staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Our guide was Abe and his enthusiasm was absolutely contagious.
The only reason I gave Imbabala 4-stars instead of 5-stars is that it's not in a big five area (no rhinos) and predator sightings can be hit or miss. Provided a prospective visitor understands this in advance, the opportunity to see elephants and other game from the river along with good general game viewing in a beautiful setting more than makes up for it in my opinion.
The cottages were wonderful, with nice, comfortable beds and a small sitting area in the back between the bed and the bathroom. Meals are served communally with the chef coming out to announce the meal (a nice touch) and guests sitting together with their guide (another nice touch). Afterwards, they had a nice camp fire near the bar which was a great opportunity to chat with other guests and staff while enjoying the sounds of the bush.
If you've always wanted to see elephants in the river and see the majestic sable antelope in beautiful location without hordes of vehicles gathered around a sighting this is a great place to visit.
