“Not Iguazu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Victoria Falls was very nice, but the poverty of the area is apalling. Having seen much of the Caribbean Islands, Rio, etc, when it comes to the impoverished, Victoria Falls takes the cake. This is supposed to be the best of Zimbabwe, which leads one to wonder what the rest of the country looks like! It's hard to imagine. Trash everywhere and no one seems to give a crap.
We did enjoy the falls and the Victoria Falls Hotel in particular which was over the top fantastic. Gotta give it to the Brits who built this spot in the early 1900s.

“Beautiful experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Vic Falls is a must-see. Although there is an entry fee and there isn't much to do in the city, it's worth a visit! The rain forest is lovely and it's amazing to see the falls!

“Great! But expensive for foreigners.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

The Rainforest National Park to enter the falls is beautiful, but to enter is expensive for foreigners. I am from the US, and it's $30 to enter. And it's only a single entry. You can't even go back the same day on the same pass, you'd have to pay again. Zimbabweans get in for $7, and South Africans get in for something inbetween.

“Breath taking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

First of all, there is WILDLIFE in the park! When I visited at 7 in the morning, I was not allowed to enter the park because an elephant was breaking down trees near the entrance. Plus I saw at least 5 warthogs while I was walking there. Second, the park is well maintained and has over 15 different view-points (you can get a map for 1USD at the entrance). Everything about this place is just beautiful! And because of the long distance you are never standing in between a big crowd at the viewpoints.

“One of the unacclaimed Wonders of the World! Breathtakingly beautiful.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The main attraction is the Victoria Falls that is more than a km wide and 300 to 400m high. It takes about an hour to walk the length of the falls with lots of lookouts where you can take in the majestic falls. You can, of course, spend a whole morning or afternoon there.

We have visited the Victoria Falls six times over a period of 20 years, and each time we're as awestruck as the first time! With the changing seasons and rainfall, the falls are different every time you visit.

There's a tuck shop/restaurant where you can have lunch or a snack or buy good take-aways and drinks.

Toilet facilities well looked after.

Buy a cheap raincoat or umbrella from the stalls at the entrance to support the locals and to protect yourself and your cameras from the spray at some lookouts. It may range from just a mist to drenching sprays in places, depending on the season and the rainfall in the previous months.

It's a good idea to visit the Victoria Falls Hotel for lunch or dinner. Very expensive to stay in, the food is still affordable and it is a really great experience. Old worldly and majestic.

There is a market where you can buy curios. The artists are amazing and they certainly need support from the tourist trade.

The best way to visit Victoria Falls National Park is by arranging to be taken over the border by a company that specialises in it. They help you at the border posts on both sides, which makes it a breeze and it's not much more expensive than going over in your own vehicle. They also shuttle you between the Falls and the Victoria Falls Hotel as well as the Crafters Market.
