“Just wow!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

We stayed here as a relaxing way to unwind after a long flight to see the great spectacle of the falls. We never imagined that we would also have such a good safari experience. The lodge has no fences thank goodness as on our first full day our " tent" was surrounded by more than 30 elephants including very young ones. One of our very best travel experiences. The ambience provides a great chill out experience. The staff are so helpful and everything is provided with very good quality food. The must do activity is to take a flight over the falls.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2 but we are sure they are all good. All are along the banks of the Zambezi river.

What a special place. I would elaborate on the location, the rooms, the staff, food etc but having read the other reviews (all with a top rating) I think they have covered this, more eloquently than I could, so I think it sufficient to say that should you be fortunate enough to treat yourself to a night or more at this lodge be prepared to have your expectations exceeded and enjoy the African bush in the comfort of 5 star accommodation. I do feel it worth noting that we are a family with a 4 year old daughter and was concerned, as little people can pose certain challenges as any parent can testify, I needn't have worried as the staff took this effortlessly in their stride and ensured we enjoyed our stay as well as the other guests. So thanks George, Camilla and the team, we will defiantly be back

This is a lodge I would truly recommend. It is beautifully located, we had a stunning view over the river. The sunset boat tour was wonderful. The service is outstanding. We also went rafting one day which was fascinating. The tented chalets are very spacious and luxury.
Thank you Karen for taking care of us so wonderfully!

Best way to experience the Victoria Falls region. In the lap of luxury but subtly integrated into its natural environment using the latest eco-friendly materials. Incredible ambiance amplified even more by the stylish decor and attention to detail. Was fantastic to be this close to the falls yet inside a national park. Loved the pool (and bath tub) with view over the stunning Zambezi River with elephants coming to drink. Professional staff always impressed and the food was unbeatable.

What an amzing stay! My husband took me away for a surprise weekend at the Zambezi Crescent Vic Falls Lodge. The staff were excellent and knew exactly when to be there and when to leave you alone, a rare skill. The food was fantastic and the decor was out of this world. The attention to detail was brilliant. Just 20 minutes from Vic Falls town, we spent one day in town, but the rest at the Lodge. The guided walk in the reserve was a real treat and the fishing fruitful and river cruises relaxing and peaceful, with hippo's and croc's watching. We would highly recommend staying here if you want a relaxing, pampered break.

I recently stayed at Victoria Falls River Lodge for three nights as part of a week-long trip to Zimbabwe. After travelling for 4 days through Hwange National Park in a hire car and staying in the cute but decaying parks accommodation, arriving at the luxury Victoria Falls River Lodge felt like winning the lottery. The lodge is brand new and the luxury, safari style tents are beautifully decorated and are perfectly located 30meters from the banks of the Zambezi River. Each tent has a very private deck overlooking the river, and has all the creature comforts you could need. The food was excellent and the general staff efficient and friendly. The thing that sets this lodge apart from the competition is the great combination of being only 10km from Victoria Falls while at the same time being situated 5km inside the Zambezi National Park. The elephants, buffalo, hippo and wild dog around the camp don't seem to mind being so close to civilization, and the sense of being in a wild area is genuine. The birding at the Lodge is excellent with Zambezi specials such as Palm Thrush, Palm Swift, Pel's Fishing Owl, and African Skimmer. The highlights of our stay included a private walking safari and sundowners on the river boat.

Room Tip: #5 is the unofficial honeymoon suite

Talk about 7 nights just flying by! Victoria Falls River Lodge was certainly the most beautiful and memorable part of our long holiday across Africa. Starting with our arrival, we were greeted at the jetty by our very informative ranger Clever and escorted on board a beautiful, luxurious river boat heading down the Zambezi river to our lodge. The welcome into the lodge was amazing, cruising to the river bank and greeted by the sight of a long wooden jetty with romantic lamps hanging off the pillars.

The main lodge is set perfectly for full enjoyment of the river, the surroundings, and simply waiting for wildlife to run across. If you are inclined, there is also a remarkable tree house deck
for viewing wild life. Our favorite was the camp fire made every evening, a huge roaring fire
surrounded by nothing but trees, the river and the call of hippos and hyenas.

The rooms were fabulous luxury tents - as they said, the only thing resembling a tent was the
tent cover. The tent was massive, everything internally was what you would expect from a five
star in the wild, complete with a substantial living area which you dont often find in hotel rooms. A
luxurious bath or shower indoors, or an outdoor shower right outside. Beautiful bedding you can
jump into, and just the most fantastic views which can be enjoyed from your bed or the hammock outside.
The main deck where we dined and the children played was perfect, not overdone to outshine
the natural beauty of the place but complementing it instead. We could choose to dine enjoying
the sunshine and stars, or rug up cozily inside. The food selection was good, breakfast was a
cold buffet with the best breads and muffins baked by William as well as a selection of hot
breakfast choices, whilst dinner was always accompanied by the most appetizing soups. My
husband had 3 rounds of soup one night!

Nothing was ever too much for the team, Clever took us fishing in the river boat whilst Brian
ensured we had the best breakfast on board, talk about luxury fishing. They also took the time to
make bows and arrows for our two very active children ( all they did was ask if it was possible)
and made every effort to play ball or just spend time with the kids.
This isn't our first safari nor our first trip to Africa and we certainly hail Victoria Falls River Lodge
as one of our most enjoyable and memorable holidays ever. It was indeed the perfect
combination of everything - nature, luxury accommodation in the wild, great service, enjoyable safari drives, lots of peace but yet sufficient activities for the kids to entertain themselves. We
loved it and would certainly whole heartedly recommend it.
