“Davies Family, Melbourne Australia - Fantastic Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Booked 3 double rooms for the family, the people were fantastic, they could not help you enough. The resort was top class and the food was excellent. Next time I am in Africa I will make sure we go back again. Thanks to all you were all very good. We had great views of the water hole and we seen alot of animals. Bed was comfortable and no need to add anything else, great resort. THANKS

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a view of the water hole.

Hello to all the Davies family in Melbourne
When international guests from afar really enjoy their stay with us, and say so very strongly on Trip Advisor, our whole team is inspired and the message of our wonderfully located resort spreads far and wide. It is also very heartening that review after review mentions our friendly and caring staff - they're always there with a genuine smile and a desire to ensure our guests are happy.

Thank you for staying with us and for helping us to spread the good word!

“Unexpected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

We had a wonderful stay at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. The events organizer was brilliant, new her story and explained everything in detail. All our activities went according to plan,on time and super organized.
Easy access to the town, a mini bus service every hour, all for free.
The staff went out of the way to accomodate our requests, even organized our own private cooler box filled with ice and drinks for the evening game drive!
Whilst sitting on the deck, overlooking the great expance of beauty, we overheard guests from a neighbouring hotel saying they should have rather booked at the Victoria Fall Safari Lodge, must better place they said. So, what more can one say?
I could not have emagined anything better. I can recommend this venue to anybody thinking about a trip to Vic Falls.
Oh and Clarence the bar man can make excellent cocktails, try the Pims cocktail with ginger ale, the best.

Room Tip: At the time they just finished a brand new section, ask for the Safari Club, more up market.

Hello Erika
You could not have imagined anything better than VFSL....and we could not have imagined anything better than your glowing review that does us proud. Thank you. We are fortunate to have an inspired team who take great pride in their roles. You hit on all the key points with such enthusiasm and we're delighted to have had such satisfied guests.

All 72 lodge rooms are being refurbished and re-styled in a major way and our new look will unfold by August this year. You are right that the new Club is even better, but that is our five-star butler-service 20-room wing that is also more expensive as it exudes sheer luxury.

“Great Location and Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

We spent two nights at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. Our room was in a section that was at the far end, so we did not have a view of the watering hole, but it was on the end and very quiet. You do need to follow the directions and not leave your balcony door open and untended, as the vervet monkeys will make themselves at home. None got into our room, but they did hang out on the balcony with high hopes! The room was large and comfortable with both a bathtub and a shower. The breakfast was generous with many choices. We ate lunch and dinner there on both days, and it was very good. The warthog tenderloin was excellent. We liked being away from the center of town with more opportunities to see wildlife, but they also had a shuttle that ran most of the day. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the watering hole.

Hello Alaska
A rare pleasure to have someone from your part of the world staying with us - hope you coped OK under the hot African sun! Thank you for your generous review, particularly your appreciation of the food for all three meals at our signature Makuwa-Kuwa restaurant overlooking the waterhole.

It is also good to know that our guests really appreciate the significant benefit of being "in the wilds" and a little away from the bustle of the town centre. We're the only larger lodge/hotel in the area where you can watch the wildlife from so many vantage points, including the bar, dining room, pool, sun terrace and boardroom. You know you are in harmony with nature, in the real Africa, and yet the centre is only five minutes away in our on-the-hour complimentary shuttle service.

Quite a good hotel with a panoramic view,i enjoyed the feeding of the vultures.I think you need to consider adding a gym to your facilities.I had diificulties getting to Elephant Hills to go and workout in their gym,i eventually had to call a taxi. The single bed was quite uncomfortable.I feel you should consider adding a mini fridge in the rooms

Hello Kingston
Thank you for staying with us, though it seems you are the really active type who needs a resort with a gym and other action facilities. Although we have often considered a small gym, with a view of the waterhole or the spray of the falls, we have yet to make a firm decision as we get so little call for such a facility from our international guests who mostly wish to remain in relax mode.

Although we offer an on-the-hour and much acclaimed free shuttle service this is only to the town centre and to those few hotels there. Unfortunately we could not stretch to becoming a transfer service to other out of town hotels as, again, the demand would probably equate to one seat a week. Therefore a taxi was definitely your best solution.

I'm sorry you found your bed uncomfortable - again, it is a very rare complaint and we've been open for 18 years and have undergone several upgrades in that time. However, we are readying for a total re-styling and refurbishment of all 72 rooms and that will include the beds for a total and dynamic new look and feel.

“Wonderfull!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

We went for a 4 night stay at the Safari lodge and had an amazing time, our room overlooked the watering hole which is an excellent view, and the air con much needed. We had a wonderful experience!!! The staff are all very friendly and helpful, the shuttle service were on time every time and the drivers very ready with info were needed. We had a massage at the Spa, and did river rafting and other activities as well. Though the food was a bit expensive as we kept converting the $ back to South African Rand we will definitely be going back to see the waterfall in the dry season and will certainly return to Safari Lodge.

Hello Sue
Words like "wonderful" and "amazing" really do us proud in your review - thank you. Yes, as you say, it's the overall experience that really counts and we're delighted you mentioned the superb location, the food, the shuttle and our friendly staff.

Every now and again we revitalise everything - both in refurbs and taking staff training and service levels to another level. In the next few months all 72 rooms are being dramatically re-styled. We also have a new globally experienced groups operations manager, Brian Gardiner, who lives at the Falls with his family and is on a crusade to inspire and motivate staff in ways that will increasingly impact very favourably on the guest experience.

May we commend you, and other researchers here, to the Africa Albida Tourism blog which will soon be covering a short and fascinating five-part series of what Brian and his team are all about and what exciting developments are in store.
