Have been here a few times. Close to my house in Ballantyne park. Convenient location and really nice atmosphere. Combination of a bar in the front and restaurant in the back - often busy and buzzing. The problem with many restaurants I have been so far in Harare is that big portions seem to be more important than quality. The Mill is no exception. Had a pork belly dish but then it comes with all kinds of other stuff, including slices of apple, corn, sauce drips and lots more on the plate that makes it really overdone in terms of presentation and it combines flavours that really shouldn't be on one and the same plate. The pork belly itself was nice but why add all the other stuff? It seems the Mill has shares in radishes and watercress - they appear on every dish it seems - including their version of nachos grande which was very fllling but doesn't come close to what you expect from a nachos grande (and it didn't improve on the original concept). I like the tapas menu and particularly the curry pot. While this is called a tapas one of these tapas is filling enough if you're not a big eater. Also had the cod fillet - very strangely presented in little towers which looks nice but it requires so much crumble to make them stand straight it affects the overall quality of the dish, it was quite fatty as well. From the attempts of presentation it shows that there are good intentions to make something a bit special but my impression is that presentation and portion seem to be more important than quality. But maybe it is just me, in need of getting used to standards in Harare after having lived in SE Asia (Cambodia). My recommendation: reduce the portions and presentation and focus on quality. Never tried their desserts for two reasons: was already stuffed from the mains and I find prices from10 usd for a dessert outrageous.
Even though there is a bar, there is no draught beer - pity!
