4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2009

Harare has taken a beating in recent years thanks to hyperinflation and with the chaos the downtown area has become a less attractive and secure space to stay. The rise of places like Amanzi and Imba Matombo in the suburbs around Borrowdale reflect the preference of many to stay outside the CBD.
Pangolin is not 5 star but is a pleasant and secure place to stay. A series of lodges set in pretty gardens not far from Borrowdale shops and Rolfe Valley, the Lodge is run by a team of dedicated and professional staff who do their best to make everyone feel welcome.
The breakfasts at Pangolin have long been a favourite with locals and the grounds are big enough that you feel you can stretch your legs, enjoy a swim and enjoy the countryside beyond the fence.
Staying in Harare is not a conventional experience, there is no running water and there are frequent power cuts, so its best to stay somewhere thats geared up for this. Fortunately Pangolin is - there is a generator onsite meaning no candles and the water situation is not an issue thanks to boreholes and deliveries.
Pangolin gets a lot of repeats customers and its surprising that it has not made it onto Tripadvisor, but don't let that put you off. This is a great choice of place to stay. We spent a very comfortable four nights here and would happily return.
