Our stay at the Carlton was very nice. They have some new rooms and some old rooms, so try to ask for the new ones, as they've been recently renovated. This hotel was in easy walking distance to all the major sights around Tunis (which you should be able to see everything in 3 days). Wi-Fi was free, fast, and easy to get from our room (on the 1st floor).
The breakfast was a little anemic but not bad: cereal, bread, cheese, salami, olives, etc.
The overall condition of the hotel left some things to be desired but our room was very nice. It's not easy to find hotels in this class in Tunisia- either they're dumps (and cheap) or they're rather pricey 5-star tourist hotels. That middle rung is the missing link. The Carlton is in that middle rung and is therefore recommended.
