“Great place to stay right on the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

I'm really surprised about the bad reviews. It's located right on the beach. The room itself is ok, clean, big bed, bathrooms are ok. Nice food (reasonable priced for a hotel). Rates (for a single room) are ok. If coming back to Nungwi I would definitely stay there again.

Stayed here for 3 days, left to visit another part of the island but decided to come back for another 2! The location is absolutely superb!! We managed to get the price down quite a lot but we were there during low season. Zanzibar is not a cheap place hotelwise so this was pretty good for the location and the OK but painfully slow breakfast. I guess it's the kind of place were you just end up loving everyone that works there when you just didn't get their comatose personality in the beginning. It's a simple little bungalow on the beach, right on the sand, 2 seconds away from the most beautiful sea I have ever seen. It is not the cleanest place but you just gotta love it. Would definitely stay here again!

The title says it all. When me and my friends arrived, we were amazed by the beauty of the place : nice little 'houses' right on an amazing beach... we thought we were about to spend a luxus holiday but that was before seing our room. After visiting different hotels we decided to book this one because of the wifi and the a/c. But no wifi, and the a/c + the sink were broken (the noise of the waterdrops all night long was really annoying). We had to change the room, which was not convenient at all since we were only staying 3 nights. In the new room, the toilets broke down and when we came back from the beach, some worker came to tell us that there was no water anymore, something had broke and we had to go shower in another room. Also, both rooms were DISGUSTING. Especially the bathrooms. Having a shower in there was not pleasant at all. On our departure day, we decided to let the manager know about our bad experience of the hotel and the only reaction we had was 1. someone who didnt care at all and who offered a juice to apologize ( after discussing the situation with him for 30 min, telling him it was not a way to treat guests) 2. another guy from the staff who has been really rude to us. One of the worst hotel Ive ever stayed at. Simply don t choose this hotel, it will ruin your holiday.

My friends and I stayed at Nungwi Inn for 3 nights after a trip in Stonetown and the south of the island. We are used to sleeping in simple hotels and hostels but Nungwi Inn was very disappointing.
We picked Nungwi Inn after having seen a few other places to compare what was available. It seemed like Nungwi Inn had it all: great location right on the beach, clean room, A/C and wifi for a decent price. But each day brought its bad surprise. First the wifi signal works only at the reception. Then the A/C was not working so we agreed to switch room the next day. So not only did we spend a warm night but the sink was leaking. So the 2nd night everything seemed right...until the flush broke down..!

The bathroom in both rooms were getting dirty really quickly and no broom to clean by yourself between 2 showers (when you spend your day at the beach I let you picture how dirty the bathroom gets!)

And finally the 3rd day we get back to our room when a man probably working here tells us the water does not work so we wont be able to shower until maybe the next day. That was the straw that broke the camel's back! Until then we had not complained but we decided to go to the reception but the man did not care at all. He could not do anything to compensate except offering us a juice (after a loooong discussion...how generous that was!!).

The only positive thing is the location on this paradise beach...I am sure you get better for a decent price somewhere else.

We stayed here at the end of our over landing trip. First two nights with the tour, and last few just me and my partner. When we checked in, our tour guide asked for us the have the best room as we were staying on longer. We got a bungalow on the beach, which we initlaly thought was brililant. We had sea views, and could be in the sea from our front door in less than 30 seconds. the room was very basic, but had what we needed, including a mosquito net. However we soon realised that we were also next to the very noisy bar.We stayed in that room for two nights, listening to their god-awful music, and then decided to ask for a room further back from the bar. The hotel manager seemed to be perplexed that we would be bothered by club-level noise volumes until 3/4 o'clock in the morning, but did agree to move us. Sadly, the room we moved to was more tired than the first room, and the shower leaked, and had a strange smell. We were also next to an electric tower that buzzed constantly - however this was preferable to the bar noise!
The bar here does nice cocktails, and the pizzas cooked in a traditioanl oven were delicious.

He had 28 people in our group and Nungwi Inn met our needs. It is well located on the beach with several dining choices in the area. Rooms were clean, but the bathrooms need some work. The bathroom tap did not work well and the shower is almost certainly sitting on mold since water flows freely under if through the caulking. Breakfast was good, with fruit and good omelettes, but it takes a long time to arrive. Ordering a basic burger or pizza can result in a 45 minute wait, so order early...the staff are in no hurry. Front desk staff would be best described as something between comatose and aloof. Mama Mia's and Langi Langi were good dinner options on the beach.

We stayed here as part of a tour so am not sure how expensive it is.

The bungalows are basic but have air conditioning, comfortable beds, hot powerful showers and are fairly clean.  Staff were friendly and were keen to ensure that our room was a double as opposed to a twin four poster bed and put the beds together for us as well as sprinkling it with freshly cut flowers and a towel in a shape of a heart.  We didn't ask for this to happen so thought it was quite sweet.  Our light bulb blew when we came back to the bungalow and this was replaced by the staff straight away.  There also what seemed to be a turn down service which we weren't expecting. Great service. The mosquito nets didn't have any holes and the rooms although basic were nicely decorated with a bit of character and each had a veranda and a couple of chairs and table.

Nungwi hasn't got the greatest beach (I was told by a friend that Kendwa was nice) so I wouldn't stay for too long or be back, but if you want a decent place for a night or two with a few decent restaurants and a bar with dancing on the beach not that far away then this is a good option.

Breakfast was fine fruit and eggs made to order with freshly squeezed juice and tea and coffee.
