“Go Here Now!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

My family and I were on holiday over Christmas/New Year 2011-2012 and we made the marvelous decision to stay at the Singita property Sasakwa Hill Lodge (in connection with the Sabora Tented Camp, also fantastic).
I was really nervous about booking a trip to a place I had never been, through a travel agent in South Africa whom I had never seen, but I have to say that we were so well taken care of that I am only sad that the Singita brand only deals with safaris in Africa.
Every step of our trip was taken care of, from the moment we touched down in Kilimanjaro until the plane took off again at the end of a dream-come-true two weeks in Tanzania.
Sasakwa Lodge was the third hotel on our journey but it was the best one. It was comfortable, luxurious and gorgeous. And as nice as the Lodge was, it took second place to the location of the lodge itself, perched high above the Serengeti plain. Mesmerizing. It is the first thing visitors see as they walk through the breezeway to enjoy a drink with the lodge managers during the welcome briefing all guests receive upon arrival. The cottages are fabulous, exactly the right kind of decor for this exotic place. Little touches are not neglected, such as decanters of brandy and liqueurs for an evening nightcap. The beds are very comfortable, the claw-footed bathtubs are romantic, the plunge pool is heated and a good size.
Of course, all this is nothing without wonderful people working tirelessly to make for an even better stay, and Sasakwa Lodge had this too. Every person we came into contact with was kind, enthusiastic, and helpful. Everyone had extensive knowledge of the region, the animals, and country.
The guide we were blessed to have during this amazing trip was Adas, whose extensive knowledge of, well, just about anything having to do with flora and fauna was just a cherry on top of the safari sundae.
I know it isn't cheap, but do yourself a favor and go as soon as you can. This is too good to keep secret!

We are there from 9.3.12 to 11.3.12 at Singita Sasakwa Lodge.
Sasakwa is a amazing great unique Lodge the style is very british- colonial and desing was perfect. The House (your Room) with a Livingroom, Beedroom, two Bathroom, two Fireplace, nice veranda and with your own Infinitypool was so perfect you dont want leave this anymore.
The Lodge are on the Top of a hill the view is like in a "kitch movie" Incredible to the area of Serengeti. I cant remember when we saw in the last years just a amazing place.
The Mainhouse with the Restaurant, Bar, Pool, Billiardroom, Green etc. is out of 10.
Food and the Staff was incredible. There also have a more than 25 Horses for Ridesafarie. It`s a must to see this.

The Camedrive with the open Privat Land Rover and the perfect Driver "Brayer" was great for us. We saw the Big 4 :-)) miss just the rhino.
We say thanks to all this lovely and very friendly Staff at Sasakwa Lodge for this unique Experience

Recommendation: for other Guest:
Start 2 nighst at Sabora Camp, than 2 night Faru Faru and the ende 2 nights at the great Sasakwa Lodge.
Don`t fly from Daressalam, Arusha to the Bush it`s imposition with the Costel Air or Regional Air. The Plane are very small and old and you must take 4 or more Stops at other Airstrips and you need more than 7 houres from Daressalam to Grumeti Lodge.
Better way to get in, is from Nairobi than to Kilimandscharo Airport with Kenja Airways or a direct connection from Europe ( KLM) direct to Kilimandscharo Airport)
We also don`t enjoy Daressalam was very grubby.....

Singita Grumeti Reserves was the Best Holiday in the last 10 Years
we come back soon.
All Singita Lodge are unique... we love this Style of Hotel/Lodges

Sasakwa Lodge gives you the service and luxury you can only find at the best hotels in the world, and combines it with amazing game drives, beautiful views and great food. The view from the Lodge is one of a kind. Free calls to all around the world is and high speed internet sure helps connect with anyone you need in a country where the choices are limited even in its major cities.
Overall I think it is almost impossible to fault anything about this place and it is a once in a lifetime experience to have.

The grande dame of the Singita lodges. This breathtaking lodge is truly the African anglo-saxon dream.
By far the most luxurious experience in the entire African continent. Well worth staying at for the game drives, spa treatments, excellent boutique, horse riding, tennis (with ball boys and all) and endless food options.

The villas are private and beautifully designed. Very considered. A classic!

Room Tip: Spending time in all the different rooms: garden lounge room, games room, billiard room, bar etc etc...

Sheer opulence. Nothing is left to chance. The rooms are extraordinary and the public rooms divine. Food is excellent and we were treated to a game drive where we saw cheetah, lion and leopard!

We were fortunate enough to stay at Singita Sasakwa during our trip to Africa. I cannot say enough about the beauty of the lodge and the surroundings they are breathtaking! The staff, food in fact everything about the trip was perfect. With Mark Homann and Alfred as our guides our experiences were varied. We ticked every box on the perfect safari!! Watching 10,000 wildebeast crossing the Mara River, sitting in the middle of a pride of lions, dawn hot-air balloon ride and breakfast at Sabora Camp. All in all a perfect trip enough that we are going back in June!!! Thanks again to Mark and Maria Homann of Bushspots Safaris for making this truly the trip of a lifetime and making my husband want to go back!! Mark is also the perfect guide for anyone interested in photography. Very knowledgeable and very helpful!

Room Tip: Any room. Float in your private pool and watch herds of animals below!!

Grumeti River Resort - northern edge at Serengeti NP
on the hill location we had fantasic views to the plaines and the animals, a good collection of different species just like Noah's arch.
Being in Tansania on Safari and visited 3 lodges in different regions, this was our favorite. Why? Marvelous location with breathtaking views from the main house and our villa !
Our Villa, a house just for us with a sep. living and bedroom, a large bathroom with windows and view, candlelit and free standing tub, wow.
Grumeti is a private reserve and therefore less cars, they applied the rule never more then 3 cars beside an animal. Open jeeps with a driver/guide who knows his business. And he is allowed to go off track into the bush, means we came veryyyyy close to the animals.
Food, Frank the chef, has done very tasteful meals, but if you like he prepares any food you desire. The staff is friendly, helpful and attentative. At night we walked back to our Villa with an ASKARI ( security guard ). In short, it was great and would like to go back one day.
Sorry as last thing to say, it is pricy but in our opinion worth the treat.
