“Mixed feelings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

Outside the park, almost one hour drive from the parks hot spots. Quite a big place, with a lot of tents. Don't be surprised to see some game around (great!). We were in tent #32, whichs means it takes a 8 minute walk to the restaurant. Tent is OK and we did not have bedbugs. As we understood the Moivaro-chain serves à 4 course dinner, but the restaurant staff let us know that we had to choose between soup and entree. Which was corrected by the kind manager Joseph when we asked about this, but we found this very strange and afterwards some of the staff seemed to blame us for that. Food-quality is o.k.

Good place to stay, just outside the Serengeti borders. Although you sleep in a tent, its very luxurious with large bathroom and hot water. Of course its camping, so you will meet some spiders and other bugs inside. View from our veranda was great! At night you can hear sounds of different animals (but there are enough guards walking around the camp so you don't have to worry). Food was good, buffet style and enough choice. Friendly and helpfull staff.

We stayed at this Tented Camp for 2 nights and it was just fantastic! The team are so welcoming, the food in the wonderful tented restaurant excellent and the decor is just so romantic (if you forget that there are hyenas around and perhaps Lions too!). The tents are spacious and comfortable with a lovely double bed (or two singles) and separate toilet & shower compartments with a little 'beauty' mirror & sink. The shower was the best I had in Africa - lots of lovely hot water 20L per person but more than enough and the system is just great - you go into the shower and say 'shower please' and a boy comes behind the tent and rigs up a bucket of water and says 'ready' - top! The camp fire is not just a nice touch, but necessary to keep the animals away and a nice meeting point for the guests before dinner. Everything was just so elegant and a very memorable location. Difficult for me to sleep at night as there was some wind and I was imagining all sorts of wild animals around the tent ;-) All part of the experience!

Food was very good. The ambience was nice. The staff was welcoming. Just wanted to point out that the rooms are tented lodges and not buildings. So be prepared to hear all sorts of noises during the night - remember you're sleeping in the Serengeti. Also our tent did not seal very well so snakes are welcome in the tent.

Steyed here as part of our honeymoon with love live africa.

Unfortunately the wildebeest were messing around further south, so there was very little game around so we had to drive a long way every day, but thats nature.

The tents are spacious and generally fine, hot shower, flushing toilet and sink.

The restraunt tent was funky, with power for charging camera batteries etc. If you want high end accomodation with carpets curtains and other frills then look elsewhere.

This is very simple, not basic, just simple, - we found the quiet and space very relaxing and enjoyed sitting around the fire in the evening. Joseph and his staff were great, always willing to help out, the guards are awesome, walking around with spears and bow and arrows!

the food was fine, a couple of desserts were basic but the mains were tasty and good portion (man portion) sizes!! all in all a really nice place.

I've stayed there for 3 nights during my round trip. Good service, friendly staff and very good kitchen. As the lodge is located in the bush the night is full with the sound of the animals - slept more than good :). One evening we had giraffes near the restauraunt ( 15 m away)
The tents are in a really huge area so you have to walk a few minutes to get to the reception or the restaurant. As there are no "street lights" a torch light is very helpful. Overall a fantastic experience.

This was the worst of our stays on our safari trip. Maybe we were unlucky due to heavy rain, but the food was cold, there were ants on the bread and a bug in the salad. The roof in the restaurant leaked and when we woke up in the morning it smelled of sewage. Maybe the septic tanks were overflowing due to the heavy reain? The tent/room it self was ok and clean and the water was hot.
