“Beyond expectations”

Sayari is by far the best in Tanzania. Very personal approach to the guests, beautiful, luxury and remote location in the North area of the Serengeti, many wildlife, very good and friendly guides, delicious kitchen but really in the end all members of the Sayari team make this wonder happen!

We flew into Sayari Camp on my birthday and from the moment we set down on the grassy landscape, we were treated like royalty. Everything was laid on including a welcoming and cool Iced Tea. Tanya is an outstanding hostess and arranged a private dining experience on our first night, where we watched the full moon rise out of the clouds, whilst enjoying an excellent three course meal. The accommodation is sumptuous and luxurious. Our tent was very private with views over the plain. Every night we were treated with Zebras galloping past and Impala idly eating the vegetation. During the day, it was very difficult to decide between a well-planned and informative game-drive or remaining at the camp to lap up the luxury and comfort at the pool or in the lounge. We eventually opted for both options and were not disappointed.! The landscape around Sayari is truly spectacular with rocky outcrops, rolling hills and vast open spaces of land and sky. We enjoyed breakfasts and sundowners on the drives and came back to the Camp for a delicious lunch - all the food called for an afternoon nap ahead of the next drive. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience which we have already recommended to friends and family. Don't hesitate - book it!

Everything was perfect here. Tanya runs the place, and is successful at making you forget everything except relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. She takes care of timing your game drives, and early morning coffee and tea delivery, and lunch arrangements. All you have to do is show up and have fun. The food was really good, sometimes excellent. Everyone is served the same meal, unless you have restrictions, in which case they will whip up a delicious substitution.

My next safari, I'll stay only at places like Sayari.

We spent 5 nights at Sayari at the beginning of our 5th trip to Africa. We found it to be lovely, our tent luxurious with its king bed and oval tub overlooking the plain! We had a fill-in manager during our stay - very efficient, perhaps a bit too 'structured.' Food - don't even remember it. But we come to Africa for wildlife experiences and good guiding - and Sayari has it. The wildlife was plentiful and the viewing was spectacular, including 2 wildebeest crossings. Our guide, Malaki, did a fine job and is very knowledgable. We saw leopards on multiple occasions, 3 cheetah brothers and a lone female, several lion prides and the amazing sight of a lioness climbing a tree to steal a leopard's kill - and then watched her eat it! We have already recommended Sayari to others, including those that have not been to Africa before!

My wife & self spent three nights @ the Sayari Camp (Nov 9-12) & enjoyed every minute of our stay. The staff, food, & in particular the Safari guides were all first class.
If anyone enjoys a Four Seasons, or a five/six star hotel accommodation then this type of camping is perfect.
Safari's are all about seeing & being up close to the wild life of Africa & the location of Sayari Camp makes it the ideal place to do just that. The big five (including the much elusive Mr. Leopard) were all seen within the first two days. Plus much more.
Would we return, in a heartbeat!

Truly one of the best lodges I've ever stayed at -- probably a top-10 for me. Beautiful, pagoda-like permanent tents overlooking the Serengeti. Great location for the Wildebeest migration (I'm guessing this is the place to be from June to October). Phenomenal food. Really nice "little touches" -- like the couch on the deck of each room overlooking the plains, and the bathtub with the same view.

Saw plenty of wildlife in the camp itself as well -- an elephant troop made its way through at one point, we came face-to-face with a Grant's Gazelle on the way to breakfast, saw a giraffe right in front of our tent, and there was a hippo fight behind our tent one evening.

Some of the higher-ups in the camp staff were a bit stuffy for my tastes; but that's probably what's expected from such a high-end lodge. The remainder of the staff were very nice and down-to-earth.

Strong recommendation here.

....at Sayari Camp in the Northern Serengeti. We stayed at Sayari for 3 nights at the beginning of October and would return in a heartbeat! This is camping in style! Our tent, set on low 'stilts' with a large wooden verandah at the front, was extremely spacious & well-designed. Comfortable beds, excellent storage space, large bathroom..with free-standing bath, 'his and hers' handbasins. Big walk-in shower room, and separate full-flushing loo. The tents are all well spaced out, giving a sense of privacy, but without feeling 'isolated'. We were very much made to feel like houseguests on our arrival....Tanya & Maggie, our hosts, greeted us warmly & introduced us to other members of their team. The camp is divided into two sections...one side with 6 tents and their own hosts, dining tent and bar, and the other comprising 9 tents, dining tent and bar. Tanya does an amazing job in making everyone feel pampered, and valued as a guest, in addition to being responsible for their safety and general well-being. She is a charming and knowledgeable 'front of house' manager. The candlelit bar is a comfortable and cosy place to start the evening, exchanging game viewing experiences with other guests, before being escorted to the dining tent. (After dark no-one is permitted to walk unaccompanied...local guides ensure the safety of everyone). The food was generally of a very good standard...our first dining experience raised expectations which rather sadly were not quite matched on the two subsequent evenings. Bush breakfasts were very good, buffet lunch extremely tasty & well presented. Tend to agree with a previous reviewer...about the expense of Sayari warranting a higher quality of dinner. However, this detail certainly did not distract from our visit! The game viewing was superb, our guide & driver Julius was excellent..very knowledgeable, and a delightful person to spend time with. Our only disappointment was not seeing a wildebeest river crossing! We almost saw one!....hundreds gathered on the Kenyan side of the river bank....slowly more wildebeest joined them; one or two came down the bank and stood at the edge of the water........was it going to happen, were we in luck? Change of wildebeest mind; turning their backs on the water, the few walked back up the bank; eventually the gathered throng split up into different groups with some of them walking completely away. Such an interesting AND FRUSTRATING experience for us! Even more frustrating when we heard of other Sayari guests expressing their delight at having seen crossings during our stay! A leopard, posing patiently atop a boulder for a close-up photo call helped make up for this disappointment later that day! Not to mention, lionesses doing the same thing; graceful giraffes in abundance including a two week old giraffe, cheetahs, elephants, alligators, hippos etc etc etc..wonderful birds too.
Didn't have time to try out the swimming pool at Sayari but it did look invititing. And finally, we must not forget the other members of staff....the friendly, helpful bar and dining tent people!
