“The best lodge during our safari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

I stayed at the Eco Lodge Africa for two night during my safari trip. This was by far the best lodge of my entire trip. The lodge is located a wee bit outside the Serengeti, but going towards the lodge paid off. On the way we saw big groups of wildbeasts and zebras, vultures and the best part was seeing a cheetah few steps away from us.
The lodge itself is quite new, so everything is very clean and greatly organised. The other things we loved about this lodge were the personnel and the food. The people working here were amazingly friendly without being intrusive, took care of everything to the last detail. The food was simply amazing, I ate the best soup I had in my life - green banana soup. I would love to go back to Eco-lodge and spend much more time over there.

Our family of 12 stayed here for two nights while on safari. This was our favorite place. We were trying to find the wildebeest migration (which we did). The camp was in the midst of animals and we could hear hyenas at night. One of the guards taught our son to shoot his bow. We drove up to the Mara River and back through some delightful villages. The food was really great--buffet style. We loved the bar (with reasonably priced, great beer) overlooking the fields of migrating wildebeests. A beautiful camp.

We spent one night at Eco Lodge, and it was simply AMAZING!!!
The room was clean with all the comfort you should ask for: bed, flush toilet, shower with hot water all that in the middle of the jungle!
The place is in the Serengeti park in the middle of the wild. The environment is simply mind blowing. The staff is always smiling and very helpful. We wanted to leave very early in the morning, and they nicely open the BKF a little bit before so we could have something before we left the lodge.
The assistant manager speaks a perfect English and he was very nice.
The food was a buffet with both meat fish and veggies; It was pretty good.
Someone from the Lodge need to join you as soon as it’s dark outside from your room to restaurant and back cause let’s not forget we are in the middle of the Serengeti Park.
In the middle of the night we could hear an Elephant few meters away from the tent as well as leopard it was AWESOME!!!!!!
The Eco lodge was one of the best lodge that we did all along our Safari. However the lodge is a little bit far from the entrance of the Serengeti park and the path where the animals mainly are!
In conclusion go there and ENJOY!

We spent two nights in the Grumeti Luxury tented camp.
The only drawback, if it is one, is the fact that you needed a 45 min drive from the Serengeti Ikoma gate to get there.
Probably the best accomodation we had in our 15 days game drive. You sleep and wake up between the animals. You have the feeling that you are part of it. Elephants, giraffes, zebras and even lions passing by ... Unbelievable, just like in a dream.

We stayed at Eco Lodge for three nights during our safari in Tanzania and it was definitely the best place we stayed during our entire trip. We were traveling in a group of four (two couples, two rooms). The staff is very friendly and attentive. By the end of the first evening everyone addressed us by name. Alex the bartender and Jacob the waiter were especially good. Joseph, one of the guards, also gave us a bow and arrow lesson one morning.
The food was good, even though it was a bit repetitive. I am a vegetarian and I thought the food was amazing and the vegetarian options were different every evening the other members of my group (meateaters) thought it was basically the same meal with slight variations.
The rooms were clean and spacious. This lodge is small and intimate so there is not much night life. This is not the place to go if you are looking to party or for entertainment, but it is a perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful nature.
We did the walking safari tour and I would highly recommend that. You see the animals from a completely different perspective. The night safari, however, was disappointing.
The lodge is located outside of the Serengeti and it takes about an hour just to get to the park entrance. We didn't think this was an issue since we saw animals on the way to and from the park every day. We were even woken up the first morning by the Great Migration passing outside our tent. If you have a limited time, however, this may not be the best location. We thought the above standard service, accommodations and the area around the lodge were worth the longer travel time into the park.

My wife and I wanted to stay in a mid-range tented camp near the wildebeast migration in the end of June. We couldn't have been more pleased by every detail of our stay at Eco Lodge Africa. First, the accommodations were new and immaculate, and the food was good and plentiful. Second, the staff and manager were delightful. Third, when we wanted to cross the Grumeti reserve (as the two were recently separated concessions), and the Ministry provided a letter so we could avoid a "problem" crossing the Grumeti. We were detained at the Grumeti but the manager intervened repeatedly with our guide and the other reserve concessionaire. Finally, we were 'allowed' to cross so it reduced our drive to the Western Serengeti by 100km! Forth, the wildlife is right outside your front porch! We were very happy to have stayed 3 nights here! If you "ask nicely", the manager will do his best wildebeast immitation! :-)

The lodge is fantastic with a lot of herbivores always around camp. The permanent tents are spacious and very well equipped. We had to take a long detour to enter the national park since they had shut an entry gate close to the hotel but otherwise its a good location Im told.
The Sundowners offerred at the lodge are a must do! the view is spectacular!
The service though was quite poor. The manager was never available and the staff werent the best either. Maybe im being too harsh but the service was bit of a downer.
