“Amazing hotel with a beautiful view of the serengeti from everywhere in your room”
We arrived at this lodge tired but exhilerated from a day travelling in the Serengeti. This is a beautiful lodge, in beautiful surroundings. we were upgraded from a room to a suite, which was great as my husband and I were travelling with our daughter, so more room was a real bonus, The lodge comprises of separate thatched cottages, to which you are driven on golf carts. At night you can only travel by golf carts as you are in the middle of the Serengeti! The room was amazing, the one side facing the Serengeti was all window giving an unobstructed view, even from the bathroom! The pictures I had seen beforehand do not do it justice. There is a deck and an outside shower, a bit intimidating, but a great experience and it was hot and wonderful to take.
The beds were very comfortable, the view from the bed, the same, although a little disconcerting when I woke up in the middle of the night to see a big monkey staring in from a nearby tree! The pool was also lovely, but this time of year very cold, went in to my waist for a few minutes! But again view amazing. The dining room in the same building again has amazing views, the food was very good, service great. We stayed two nights and would have loved to stay longer.
There were two downsides one was that they had no first aid on site. I had a nasty bite and they didn't have anything to help, i.e. antiseptic wipes.
The other, I imagine is one of those things you can't legistate for since you are in the middle of nowhere. There had not been much rain and in the middle of the last night many ants came inside, via the toilet to get water! It was not pleasant, something like out of a horror movie. However, there was bug spray, and we used it (something I would not normally do), and eventually they were gone. But despite this the experience was worth it.
I would thoroughly recommend this lodge.
I think all rooms have a view of the Serengti so all will be good. The suite was lovely to have so...
