“HM Safari in Tanzania - AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING EXPERIENCE”

I am extremely delayed in posting a review from my trip in August but wanted to make sure I got it in there. I went on a 10 day safari with HM that covered Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and the Crater. We got to see the entire country pretty much! I went on this trip with two other friends who had not been on a safari before either. Our main guide, Ralph was AMAZING. He was like a walking encyclopedia!!! Honestly, I was continuously amazed at how passionate he was about his job. Everytime we saw a new animal he was just as excited as we were, if not more, just as if it was his first experience as well. He knew soooo much about all the animals we saw and allowed us to learn a tremendous amount in such a short 10 day span.

One of the other girls in our group had worked with HM in planning out our itinerary but I must say it was extremely well planned. We had a mixture of luxury tented camps, mobile camps and lodges. I loved the variety and we stayed at some SUPER SUPER nice places. The main contact at the company, Jennifer is awesome. Being such a small company, they do such a great job with really trying to tailor the experience to what you're looking for. I loved my experience. I've talked to a handful of people who have been on safaris since I've been back and have been surprised at how many times I'm hearing that these other folks didn't have as great of an experience as I did.

I would 100% recommend them and if you want a great guide, Ralph is your man. He was so incredibly easy to talk to and well versed on the wildlife out on Tanzania as well as other areas of Africa. We got to see the Big 5 and I believe it's all becaues he is so eager to see as much as possible and explore! Also, Peter, the owner, came and met us on our first night and give us a short update on what we should expect. I appreciated him taking the time out.

Overall, I would say the experience was worth every penny. I loved it and would go on a safari again with HM in a heartbeat!

“Lion King here we come!”

Great game viewing, beautiful plains dotted with the typical African Plain trees and rock outcroppings. There was no lack of wildlife, even though we were at the end of the dry season. The roads can be rough - but because the Land Cruiers every tour group drives all have pop-up tops (unless you are exceptionally tall make sure the top pops up vs. rolls back or you will be in full sun for your entire game drive!) so you can stand while they drive, which minimizes the jolting. I would highly recommend the Serengeti, even with the long drive. Tarangire National Park would be a better option for those based in Arusha with limited time.

We had some fantastic animal viewing experiences, both of the stars such as leopards and cheetahs, and the lesser known animals such as bat eared foxes as well as huge numbers a of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle plus close encounters with plenty of lions and with elephants
