Travelled here with some friends to climb Kili, having booked the trip through Exodus, we stayed here for one night before the trek and one at the end. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly team, rooms were spacious and clean with a nice balcony overlooking the pool. It was overcast so couldn't see Kili.
The open terrace bar in the centre of the hotel was pleasantly furnished and bar staff took drink and food orders albeit they were a little disjointed. As other advisors have stated the food was not good, we snacked in the afternoon and as a group ate in the restaurant in the evening, a very average buffet with several corked bottles of expensive wine- stick to the local beer either tusker or kilimanjaro.
Breakfast was better, omelette station and lots of fruit. The hotel staff checked in luggage and safety deposited passports, jewellery etc for the trek.
However when we returned after the trek, this hotel transformed itself into a palace, having slept in tents for days, the bedrooms were luxurious and running water.....an absolute luxury! However the food continued to disappoint, but the beers tasted great.
In summary, this hotel is perfect for trekking Kili, it's well positioned and the facilities are actually great, the staff were superb, great service with a smile. The food needs significant improvement, our 'stomach engineer' on the trek could teach them a thing or two. It has a spa (great massages) and a pleasant pool. It helped that I was with some dear friends and met some great people. Enjoy
So tired from the flight over from London and the actual trek - I could have slept anywhere
