“On a slippery downward slope - enough is enough”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2010

I've stayed at this Hotel on several occasions since February 2009 because it was convenient for the offices I was visiting. Following each visit there was something new to complain about. Smelly rooms, bathrooms flood, noisy discos around the pool, no WIFI in the rooms, lack of lighting in the rooms, no sound on the TV, and sin of all sins - no cold beer at the bar !! The management just do not care. The staff do have the decency to be embarrassed - but in the end, it's not their fault. They are currently "renovating" which means that half the holel is a demolision site. They are working out of temporary kitchens on minimum stocks of food. Very poor. I will not be going back - enough is enough.

The rooms themselves were fine- though arranged such that you couldn't get to the Ethernet or power jacks from the desk and the room had to be rearranged. The showers are built such that water leaks to the floor with every shower.
The primary complaint is that the service was terrible. They seem to be utterly unconcerned with being helpful or providing service. At the front desk they don't provide any assistance and the restaurant service is abominable - slow, mix ups continuously, and they often forget to make things entirely.
The place was not worth the price. I chose it for the internet and proximity to a gym. The gym is small and machines often broken, the internet was good but intermittent.

A hotel trying to be much more than it is, it needs some hard work and it might get there.

The rooms are either small or LARGE, no in between and the cleaniness is erratic depending on where you are in the hotel, and I presume which cleaner you get.

My room was small but clean and sufficient, not a place to relax. My colleague's room was much larger, twice the size, but had hair all over the place and dirty towels, that had obviously been put out for him, not just left.

The breakfast and dinner are OK, this is not a hotel to loiter in, one to return to at night and eat and sleep, nothing else.

The price was also hugely over the top, $210 per night, but may have been inflated by the visit of the Aga Khan to the country

We got a taxi from the airport (USD 20) and arrived at the hotel and got a room at the 4th floor. The bellboy started the aircon (a big and very noicy machine on top of the warderobe) and left. We went into the bathroom and were met with an awfull smell of sewage. Apparently, the room must have been out of circulation for some time, because there was no water in the toilet bowl and it was stinking up from the sewage system. Even worse the aircondition was making the room hotter and hotter. We called the reception, but no one answered. Finally we went downstairs and they promissed to send a mechanic. He came and found after some searching that it was the wrong aircondition that had been started by the bellboy. After having waited outside, we were able to re-enter our room after 3 hours. We tried the lunch at the hotels restaurant, which was very disappointing - a chickenbreast that turned out to be the outer part of a chicken leg with hardly any meat. When we pointed this out to the headwaiter she just said that all chicken in Africa had a bone in the middle of the breasts !! Back in the room we found that the safe was locked by the previous guests when leaving and we called the reception to have it opened. They said they would send somebody, but no-one ever arrived. We decided to try the pool but found this had a lot of birdfeathers floating on top of the water. This did look so unhygenic so we decided not to swim. For dinner we decided not to try the restaurant, worried about finding bones in the filet steak, and asked the concierge for a restaurant nearby. It turned out that the nearest would be 20 minutes by taxi and we had some fastfood instead.
In the guest service folder in our room it said that the hotel operated an airportshuttle. This turned out not to be so when we wanted to book, but the hotel offered to book a taxi. This turned out to cost USD 35 - nearly double of what we paid the other way. We managed to get the price down to 30, but it was still 50% up. We had booked breakfastboxes, but these never materialized.

I stayed in Millennium Towers for two weeks while on a business trip in February. Great hotel with spacious, comfortable, and clean rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful and assisted me with all my needs from finding a restaurant to telling me where I should and should not go out for nightly entertainment. Beds were very comfy. Buffet breakfast was always yummy. And I had no problems with theft. Valentine's day was a special treat...staff presented me with long-stemmed roses and little chocolate candies which were nice touches while being away from home.
