5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

I am actually frim Mauritius island and everyone has been telling md that I could not find better than my island.. Mbudya challenges the best beaches of Mauritius and it is really worth it. You will have a really good time there just like I did. So go there, do not hesitate.. white sand and crystal clear water

“Great day!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

We spent the day here, almost had the island to ourselves. Very scenic and you can even do some snorkeling here.

We had the bbq lobster which was very tasty.

Over all a rustic but pleasant experience, I would definitely go back! Expect a pleasant day with lots of swimming and sunbathing but not a five star service.

“Your own private island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Mbudya Island is in Dar es Salaam Bay, and only reachable by boat. Many hotels and tour operators offer affordable boat taxis. It's small, with beautiful, white sandy beaches and wonderful swimming. Great for a day on the beach, you can rent a shade hut, mats and have a fried fish lunch and cold drinks brought to you. Great way to enjoy the Indian Ocean if you don't have time to go out to Zanzibar or the other islands.

“beautiful beach and crystal clear water”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

food option is pretty limited, only fish and lobster, served by beach boys (hygene is not their main feature) and they can be rude sometime...

but good spot to relax over the weekend (or better off during the week where its empty)

“Wonderful place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Mbudya is a really great place to relax, sunbathe, and spend time in the water. It's amazing how much nicer the water is on the island than at the beaches across on the mainland. While it can get a little crowded on weekends, it still feels peaceful (and is much quieter than the beaches at the hotels on the mainland).

Of note:
If you're planning on ordering food on the island, try to arrange it early in the day, as it can take a while. The food is simple but delicious!

When taking the boat from White Sands, you should know that if you have difficulties with mobility, you might have problems with the trip to the island. During low tide especially, the boat has to stop about 30 yards offshore, meaning you have to hop off and wade through knee-deep water to get back to the beach.
