Having been staying as a guest in the hotel for a week and had many meals here, its all been amazing, the pasta and pizza and seafood are particularly special, my wife lived in Italy for several years and she has been very impressed, pumpkin ravioli, fresh crab spaghetti served in the crab shell :) Even the little pitta, oils and tomato and garlic served with every order are so delicious.
The staff are very friendly and attentive, the food comes out in african time, which after being on the continent for a month is no surprise or problem, I'm yet to find a restaurant in Tanzania or Mozambique that serves at the standard pace of Belfast, so just order one of their amazing cocktails and relax :)
The whole restaurant is positioned slightly raised from the beach, but at high tide the waves are lapping right up to it, which makes for a magical dining experience.
All this doesn't come cheap, by dar standards anyway, pizza is around £7, pasta and mains from £10 for the quality its still great value in my book.

This place is right on the beach with amazing views. We went with some friends of ours and kids from both families. It was great because kids can just step down and play on the beach while the parents enjoy a drink. You can easily keep an eye on them from your table granted our kids are old enough to do so. We ordered prawn cocktail as starter. Didn't realize that it's prepared differently than the American shrimp cocktail. It's a more mayo-y sauce served over salad. It was still good but different than the American cocktail sauce. Kids all had pizza which was fine. I had seafood pasta in foil pouch. It was too salty! The food was overall average but the view and ambience was fantastic. We must have stayed there like 4 hours with the kids happily entertained and and the adults clearing many glasses of wine. :)

The view and the layout is really very interesting. But then the whole evening should be fab too, esp if u hv driven out for like an hr or more.
Post the terrible traffic, and the bad road what follows; - worst service, chewy steak and bad seafood considering they are by the ocean is unacceptable. service lol forget it!!!
Margerita pizza is the only thing to go for if u are there coz of the once a month music night.
The owner should change the whole kitchen and restaurant management and do justice to the whole setup.

Every third Saturday of the month Mediterraneo hold a dinner and nightclub night which I would highly recommend. The food was very good with no complaints from any of the 4 of us, superb steaks with mozarella and ham. Music went on till at least 4 am and the venue right on the beach was well attended without being too crowded. Very popular with the well heeled locals and most of the western residents and tourists seemed to be there.
Will be making this a regular event while I am here.
