“Disappointing ...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

This hotel has nothing to show for. It's breakfast is poor, its restaurant staff disorganised and un cordial. Food @ buffet is bad and outrageously expensive. Wifi coverage inside the room is bad. Noise and pollution is constant on floor 2. Overall, a bad experience ... I will not book here again.

Stayed here 2 nights as part of a group tour.
Good location and ground floor but our room very tired and in need of revamp.
Buffet dinner very ordinary , breakfasts better.
5th floor pool and terrace with views, food here was better.

This hotel clearly had his best days in the past. Although the location is marvelous both the service level and the state of the hotel reminds of better days in the past. The staff is very typical Moroccan style, not really organised but can fix anything. Even my 'confirmed' reservation was not confirmed to them, but no worries, they will find me a room. A clear and strong hotel manager is needed to turn around the place. The rooms and accomodation leaves me to conclude that the maintenance of the hotel is not well done. Not clean everywhere, paint with clear stains, etc.
Next I choose somewhere else.

Room Tip: take another hotel

A colleague told me that the Golden Tulip had once been among the best hotels in town. Well, that's the past.

Positive of course is the location close to the medina of Rabat and Place Hassan II.
Not so good is the quality of the rooms. The first room I was given had a wet carpet in the entrance area, torn curtains, an extremely musty smell, and everything was damp. At breakfast chaos reigns, you have to hunt for spoons, napkins, coffee....
In fairness I must say that after the first night I was offered a different, much better room, the musty smell however remained.
Maybe Golden Tulip should invest a bit in honor of its 50th anniversary?

I stayed here for three nights when on a business trip. My room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The biggest downfall of this hotel was the standard of service. Despite being one of only three small groups of people in the lobby bar we practically had to beg the bar staff to send someone over to serve us. We had to repeat this process to get a second round of drinks. We also had dinner two nights in a row in the hotel dining room. The food, which was buffet style, was plentiful and good. But after ordering beer from one of the wait staff it took several reminders and at least 20 minutes to get our drinks. On my last night I tried the hotel's second bar that is located on the 5th floor. This is actually a much nicer bar that has a terrace with a nice view of the city. I only had one drink there and sat at the bar so really did not get the opportunity to see what the table service was like. Upon checking out the front desk staff tried to charge me for a minibar item that I did not have. They also tried this with several of my colleagues making me think that it was an attempt at a scam. The hotel has a good location just a few minutes walk from the medina. My room came with complimentary wi-fi which was appreciated.

Stayed there for a business meeting I have contributed in organizing.. made decision based on so many promises from the management, which has hard time to deliver. Here are the pros and cons. Location is really great - just in front of the Bouregreg marina in historical spot. But that's about it in terms of pros.. The cons are a multitude: rooms hardly 3* standard, meeting facilities poor and inequipped, even wireless internet access is problematic, the food so so - managed to get sick with a turista, for the firt time and in my own country! It was most probably the shrimps in the salad bar. Service is inefficient and the staff not well trained..

Stayed one night as part of a tour so I can't rate the value. This hotel was unanimously voted by all 22 as the worst hotel of our 18-day trip. The food was inedible - typical mediocre cafeteria type food not even hot. The dining room staff was totally rude and we worried about cleanliness after seeing the waitstaff eat with their hands and then handle our silverware. The maitre d' yelled at us for starting a new table and tried to seat us with another tour group only to have more of our group come in and sit at the table where we started. There was a view of the medina from the roof which looked better in the dark, with a very small pool area - would never have spent time there. Room and bathroom was ok. beds a little too firm and flat pillos. No iron in the room. Located directly across from the medina which appeared to be a not so nice part of the city (vacant and run down buildings). Did not leave a good impression of Rabat.

Room Tip: If you want a good room, stay at another hotel!
