“Fantastic Authentic Moroccan Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

The restaurant is in the Medina which if you haven't been before you might be a bit nervous looking at the outside. However once inside it is world class with a very opulent feel. The food is brilliant and the service is exemplary. If you want a real Moroccan dining experience and are in Rabat this is a must to visit.

“A great experience - bring an appetite and pace yourself”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

Getting there was part of the experience. Walking through the narrow streets of the medina (following signs) may have been disconcerting without our local colleague, but before too long the restaurant 'guide' picks you up and leads you with a lantern through the last twists and turns.

The atmosphere is excellent in the restaurant. The musicians played a little loud and long for our taste, but others seemed to enjoy it.

Service and food was superb - but there's lots of it! Many courses and little indication if you were nearly done or half way through (we should have asked!). Several of us miscalculated and were done 2 courses before the end!

I'd love to go back, pace myself and it would be near perfect.

“Massive set feast! But expensive and just okay, not great...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2011

First, the restaurant is beautiful. Stunning place. The staff are attentive and polite. Most speak some English, though you might be better off speaking French.

The bad point was that they have moved to having an entirely set menu. Not an issue if you are prepared, but we weren't! The salad course alone left me full, with 7 delicious salads and a plate of meat parcels. For me, the hilight of the meal.

Second course was a tagine. I had the toughest chicken I have encountered to date, that was chewy, tasteless and dry. My companion had a succulent fruited lamb tagine. Definitely the better option. And there was loads. a half large chicken and four decent sized medallions of lamb.

Couscous came next. A mountain of it. By this point there was no way we were going to get through the lot, and it felt ridiculous to be finished without mKing a notable dent in the pile of couscous, veg, lamb and beef. Seriously, the quantity we got between 2 would have been sufficient as a full meal for 6 hungry people! It was over the top.

Desert was a very nice pastila with nuts and creme. We both managed a bit of one of the two provided each.

Then tea and petit four. 20 petit four between 2. Seriously.

The meal, at 500 dhiram, was very expensive, and was much much more than we wanted. But the restaurant was the only one we could find in the area and we were a little stuck. Hey ho. Live and learn.

Overall, had we been expecting a sumptuous feast, it would have been pretty good, except the chicken, but we felt kind of forced into it. Would have been perfect if we could have chosen just one or two of the courses.
